New York — American Tier V battleship.
Developed from the Wyoming class. In contrast to her predecessor, she featured reinforced armor and main battery guns of a larger caliber. When upgraded, she received reasonably good AA defense and improved torpedo protection.

Player Opinion
Performance
Pros:
- She has one of the heaviest broadsides in her tier, with ten 356 mm guns in five twin turrets.
- Compact and well armored.
- Upgraded AA is significant for tier and a major hazard to Tier IV carriers.
- Decent dispersion at mid-range, making her deadly against enemy cruisers and battleships.
- Much more heavily armored and armed than many of her counterparts.
Cons:
- Stock hull is a downgrade from elite World War II Wyoming including ineffective AA and secondaries (even when upgraded), poor penetration, and extreme sluggishness.
- Sluggish top speed of 21 knots.
- Torpedoes have a higher chance of causing detonations due to the magazines all along the hull.
- Very narrow full salvo firing arc, which means captains must show her broadside or forget about using her third turret.
- Armor scheme is tough but can be tricky to use.
- Similarly to the predecessor Wyoming, hull B makes the secondary battery weakest in the game for a battleship, with only 3 slow-firing, short-range barrels per side.

Upgrades
New York only has a handful of upgrade slots to fill.
Slot 1 is most commonly filled with Main Armaments Modification 1 , though Auxiliary Armaments Modification 1 is a popular pick for captains who go for a full AA build with other upgrades and commander skills.
Slot 2 has one choice for battleships - Damage Control System Modification 1 . This will reduce chances of fire and flood.
Slot 3 has only one option that is recommended, Artillery Plotting Room Modification 1 , as this improves the firing range of her main battery which will be of good use when facing ships of a higher tier.

Consumables
New York can equip the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Repair Party
Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 2 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.
Players who wish to spend doubloons can equip New York with Type 15 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, and increases the amount of experience she earns. An alternate permanent camouflage ("Skull") is occasionally available that paints her hull entirely black with a white skull on either side of her bow.
Signals
New York can mount up to eight signal flags simultaneously. Captains should mount Sierra Mike () flags to increase the ship’s top speed. India Delta () flags are highly recommended to increase the amount of hitpoints the Repair Party consumable can recover. India Yankee () flags are also recommended to reduce the time required to put out fires. Lastly, economic and special signal flags can be mounted to increase the ship’s experience and credit gain per battle.
