Learn more about Ranked Battles.
Rank_star.png
Ranked Battles are a Player vs. Player (PvP) game mode in which seven players team up to against seven other players. MM creates mirrored games similar to Random Battles. Victory in battle is rewarded with a star, which is progress towards the next rank. Poor performance in battle will lead to reduced rewards and more importantly losing a star. Teamwork should be prioritized to have the best chance of winning. Earn enough stars to reach Rank 1 and "rank out."

Basics of Ranked Battles

  • Ranked Battles are for captains with an Account Level 8.
  • The maximum team size in a Scenario is seven (7) players.
  • Success is based on mission completion, not enemy destruction. Focus on the objectives!
  • After a Scenario ends, the participating ship will need to wait 30 minutes to embark on further Scenarios (but other ships can be used immediately). Captains may pay 75,000Credits to unlock the ship they just played an play it in another Scenario immediately.

Eligible Ships

Each season of Ranked Battles requires ships of a specific tier to participate in the battles. Some seasons take place at different tiers depending on the rank bracket that you are participating in. For the current season (Season 9), Tiers VIII and X are the primary tiers, with Tier VII being available for players who have reached Rank 1.

Ship Tiers - Season 9
Rank Bracket Tier
Ranks 23 - 11 Tier VIII
Ranks 10 - 2 Tier X
Rank 1 Tier VII

Like the previous season (Season 8), captains will be required to play Tier VIII ships in ranked; however, upon reaching Rank 10, captains will need to have Tier X ships ready to be used to progress through the remaining ranks. Any tech-tree or Premium ship may be used at each tier.

Rewards

The post-battle splash screen details the objectives completed.
The amount of credits and experience earned from an Operation depends on the number of completed objectives and your battle performance. Average earnings per battle fall between the earning averages of Co-Op and Random battles.

Each Scenario includes a main objective and five secondary objectives. Players are awarded a star (Campaign_pin.png) for every secondary objective completed, but only if they accomplish the main objective. A non-repeatable reward is granted for every star earned.

  • If two stars are earned in a Scenario, two rewards are granted. If the Scenario is completed again and three stars are earned, only one reward is granted for that third star.
  • If players complete the Scenario and earn all five stars, they are issued all five rewards. There are no additional rewards for completing that Scenario and earning five stars again.
  • No additional rewards are granted for completing the Scenario again and earning the same number of stars.

Depending on which tasks are completed, rewards range from signal flags to premium account time. At the end of each Scenario, a splash screen will appear, which breaks down the results and rewards. This splash screen can be used to gauge success in the Scenario.

General tips for Ranked Battles

  • Consider the ships you enjoy playing the most.
  • Use this as an opportunity to grind ships, since you will only encounter same-tier enemy ships.
  • Communicate with your team - set goals, targets, and traps.
  • Utilize the minimap to predict enemy movements.
  • Study the "meta" and choose ships based on what you encounter. See a lot of destroyers? Pick a cruiser. Lots of cruisers? Go battleship.
  • Take a break after losing several games.
  • Do not expect to win every battle.
  • Set reasonable goals for yourself.
  • Expect to play a lot of battles to reach Rank 1.
