Rio de Janeiro — Pan-American special premium Tier V battleship.

In 1906, Brazil, striving to become the country with the strongest navy on the continent, ordered three ironclads from Great Britain. The development of one of them was delayed, mainly due to disputes about weapons. As a result, it was decided to arm the ship with fourteen 305 mm guns in seven turrets, which made her the record holder for the total number of her main battery barrels. Rio de Janeiro was laid down in 1911, but the Brazilian government was forced to sell the ship due to the economic situation. The battleship was acquired by the Ottoman Empire, which planned to put her into operation under the name "Sultan Osman." However, due to the outbreak of World War I, the ship was "leased" by the British government and joined the Royal Navy as HMS Agincourt.

Rio de Janeiro was first released for sale on 05 September 2022.

Player Opinion

Pros:

Heaviest broadside at tier 5 with 14 305 mm guns, tied with its british counterpart Agincourt
AP shells are great at penetrating lightly armored targets
Very good fire starting capabilities
Much better dispersion, range, RoF and HE shell damage compared to Agincourt
The secondary battery is powerful, albeit with a short range.

Cons:

No AA defenses
AP shells are ineffective against most battleships
Slower turret traverse speed and much worse concealment than Agincourt
Her armor belt is relatively thin for a battleship and the citadel is all along the length of the main battery. If enemy battleships are allowed to hit her broadside, they often inflict catastrophic damage.
