? | <!-- | + | <!--Smolensk is a fast Russian cruiser with ridiculous firepower and weak armor. While her speed allows her to control engagements most of the time, her poor rudder and flimsy hide will not save her from a well-placed battleship salvo. She is an excellent firestarter and can barrage a target with a downpour of HE shells. Her shell velocity is excellent for the caliber yet still had enough float to allow the use of many islands. She has enough AA to counter any aircraft carrier and with the right captain skills and Defensive AA makes her untouchable. She is best used as a support for battleships, as she can't take many hits and is a destroyer's nightmare. She carries a smoke should she have a teammate spotting for her and is yet another tool in her toolbox. While she has poor(ish) range, captains can use her as a long-distance annoyance, though it is recommended to take the rudder shift module should this tactic be employed.
+ | Overall, she is an outstanding ship that is capable of extreme levels of game control. Don't sail in straight lines, don't be alone, and you'll be fine.

2. Write 1-3 paragraphs of "meat". Talk about what the ship does well, what it doesn't, how it compares to same tier ships of the same type, how it compares to the previous ship in the tech tree, whatever. Try to avoid quoting vital statistics to players unless it is really relevant (i.e. concealment); they can see those in the sidebar on the right and don't need them read back. | 2. Smolensk — Soviet special premium Tier X cruiser.
Preliminary light cruiser projects developed in 1950 included a ship armed with four quadruple-gun 130 mm BL-132 mounts. She had the highest artillery firepower per ton of displacement and was considered a promising option to solve the assigned tasks. However, the heavy load on production facilities and the leadership's skepticism about the construction of ships with armaments that were not yet ready for production prevented these plans from coming to fruition.

Player Opinion
Pros:
- its like a tier 10 atlanta only much stronger with very strong shell velocity
- will wreck a DD in 2 salvos
Cons:
- Very thinly armored - will take citadels from heavy cruisers and battleships regardless of angle
Research
As a premium ship, Smolensk doesn't have any upgrades to research.
Optimal Configuration
Camouflage
As a premium ship, Smolensk comes included with Type 20 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces her repair costs, and increases the amount of experience she earns.Gallery
