+ | ''T-22'' was the first ship of the Type 39 class torpedo boat completed for the German navy. Unlike previous designs, the Type 39 class ships were constructed for fleet duties. The overall size of these ships was significantly larger than previous designs which allowed for a much heavier armament to be mounted, but this also resulted in a drastic decrease in top speed. The ships of the Type 39 class retained the same triple torpedo launchers used on older torpedo boats and carried a more potent main battery armament to accompany them. Whereas both the Type 35 and Type 37 ships were fitted with only a single 105mm gun, the Type 39 ships had four of these guns. Additionally, these guns were allowed to elevate up to 70 degrees but the lack of high angle fire directors made them ineffective at dual purpose roles.

+ | By the time ''T-22'' was completed, there was a much greater need for anti-aircraft defense. As a result, ''T-22'' and the other ships of the Type 39 design were fitted with additional 20mm and 37mm anti-aircraft guns. The radar mountings on these ships were also improved through a series of refits.

T-22 — German Tier V destroyer.
In the 1920s, several series of destroyers were built for the Reichsmarine. The first of them were, in fact, improved versions of destroyers that dated back to the times of World War I. Their further development came in the form of Type 39, which was built as a multipurpose ship with a smaller displacement. A total of 15 ships were built, with lead ship T-22 entering service in February 1942. In 1942 and 1943, the ship participated in patrol operations in the Bay of Biscay and the Battle of Sept-Îles, where she sank HMS Limbourne. In June 1944, she was transferred to the Baltic. Later, in August, the ship struck mines in Narva Bay and sank.

Player Opinion
Pros:
- Tied with the Nicholas for fastest rate of fire of all Tier V destroyers.
- All turrets can rotate 360 degrees.
Cons:
- Slowest Tier V destroyer
- Loses forward firing torpedo tubes her predecessors had.
- Cannot reliably fire torpedoes from outside detection range without the Tier 5 commander skill Concealment Expert.
- High shell arcs.
- Very short smokescreen duration limits offensive smoking ability.

Upgrades
Main Battery Modification 1 and Propulsion Modification 1 are the top picks for Upgrade Slot 1 and Upgrade Slot 4. T-22 gains access to Upgrade Slot 2, which offers two decent options: Aiming Systems Modification 1 and Main Battery Modification 2. The former is recommended if playing T-22 without a captain who has Basic Firing Training and Expert Marksman as commander skills; otherwise, the latter is a better option as the penalty to her reload time is barely noticeable (while the buff to her turret traverse is quite noteworthy).
Commander Skills
For Tier 1 skills, Basic Firing Training is highly recommended as the T-22 is primarily a gunboat and decreasing her main battery reload time from 4s to 3.6s gives her an advantage in dealing damage.
For Tier 2 skills, Last Stand is highly recommended for all destroyers as a survival necessity, Expert Marksman is recommended for extra turret traverse (from 18 seconds to 14.4 seconds for 180 degree turn) for close range gunfights, and Torpedo Armament Expertise is somewhat recommended for faster firing torpedoes (from 68 seconds to 61.2 seconds reload time).
For Tier 3 skills, Superintendent is highly recommended for additional consumables usage, Vigilance is recommended for extra detection of torpedoes, and High Alert is recommended for faster Damage Control Party cooldown.
For Tier 4 skills, Advanced Firing Training is highly recommended as it increases firing range from 10.7km to 12.9km, Demolition Expert is recommended for increasing fire chance from 5% to 8%, and Survivability Expert is recommended to increase health (+2000hp) to give the upper hand in close gunfights.
For Tier 5 skills, Concealment Expert is highly recommended for additional stealth (from 6.8km with camo to 6.1km) and Jack of All Trades is somewhat recommended to decrease cooldown on all consumables.

Consumables
Players can equip the following consumables on this destroyer: Damage Control Party, Smoke Generator, and Engine Boost.
Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 1 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce detectibility range.
Signals
The choice of which Signal Flags to mount will confer to the individual preference of each captain, and are subject to great variation, although there are certain flags which suit Destroyer gameplay better. Captains should mount India Yankee to decrease time to extinguish fires, mount November Foxtrot to decrease reload time of consumables, and mount Sierra Mike to increase the ship's maximum speed. To make their torpedoes more potent, captains should mount Juliet Whisky Unaone to increase chance of causing flooding and Juliet Charlie to mitigate risk to magazine detonation from mounting the former flag. If captains wish to buff their primary artillery, they are encouraged to mount Victor Lima + India X-ray to increase fire chance to HE shells.Gallery
