Tashkent — Soviet Tier IX destroyer.

In the early 1930s, the Soviet Navy's authorities placed an order for a destroyer leader to be built by the Italian company Odero Terni Orlando. In 1937, a Project 201 destroyer named Tashkent was laid down at the Livorno dockyard. The leader joined the Black Sea Fleet of the U.S.S.R. in 1939, but the intended 130 mm B-2LM twin-gun turrets were fitted only in 1941. During World War II, she took part in the defense of Odessa and Sevastopol, where she was the last vessel to break through the city under siege.

Player Opinion

Performance

Warning. The data presented in the AA Defense sidebar section may be incorrect.
Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.

The Tashkent is a Tier IX destroyer in World of Warships, part of the Soviet destroyer line. This ship is known for its impressive speed and firepower, offering a distinctive playstyle among destroyers.

Firepower: The Tashkent features a potent main battery armament with three triple 130mm gun turrets, totaling six guns. These guns exhibit an average reload time but can provide substantial damage output. The turret traverse speed is commendable, facilitating rapid target switching. It's worth noting that the guns tend to have a rather long reload times compared to other gunboats. Nonetheless, the excellent shell velocity compensates for this limitation.

Torpedoes: The Tashkent carries three triple-tube torpedo launchers with torpedoes of limited range. While these torpedoes have constraints in terms of range, they can still be used effectively in close-quarters combat situations. They might not be a primary armament, but they provide a supplementary weapon system for the Tashkent when the need arises.

Speed and Maneuverability: The Tashkent is one of the fastest destroyers in the game, reaching speeds exceeding 43 knots. This remarkable speed allows you to dictate the tempo of engagements and renders you a challenging target for enemy vessels. The ship's maneuverability is not as impressive, with a fairly long rudder shift time and large turning circle radius, but her high top speed should help in dodging incoming shells.

Durability: In terms of durability, the Tashkent has a more substantial health pool than some other destroyers at Tier IX, making it capable of withstanding damage better. This added durability can be valuable when engaging in prolonged engagements and provides you with greater staying power.

Concealment: The Tashkent's concealment characteristics are not its forte. It possesses a high detection range, resulting in frequent enemy detection before you can spot them. This can pose a challenge in fulfilling the traditional destroyer roles of capturing objectives and providing spotting for your team.

Playstyle: The Tashkent is most effectively employed as a long-range gunboat. Exploit its exceptional speed to kite enemy vessels, maintaining a safe distance while delivering harassing fire with its formidable guns. Its torpedoes can be used as a last resort or for close-range engagements, but their limited range should be taken into account.

Overall: The Tashkent offers a distinctive and enjoyable destroyer experience, presenting a playstyle different from other destroyers. Its remarkable speed, impressive gun armament, and supplementary torpedoes make it a versatile vessel. Its added durability allows it to engage enemies more effectively in prolonged combat. However, its fragility and suboptimal concealment necessitate careful positioning and heightened map awareness. In the hands of a skilled commander, the Tashkent can prove to be a formidable vessel in specific situations, though it may not align with every player's preferred playstyle.

Pros:

  • Large health pool for a destroyer
  • Good HE shell fire chance
  • Strong AP shells, reliable against all un-angled targets
  • Three triple torpedo launchers
  • Decent torpedo damage and range, as well as quick torpedo reload speed
  • Very fast, with an unmodified speed of 42.5 knots
  • Has access to the Repair PartyWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. consumable

Cons:

  • Large ship, almost as big as a light cruiser
  • Very poor concealment for a destroyer
  • Large turn radius and slow rudder shift
  • Torpedo tubes easily incapacitated or destroyed
  • Must give up Smoke GeneratorWhile active, generates a smoke screen that blocks line-of-sight for both enemies and teammates. to equip Repair PartyWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second.

Research

Availability of researchable upgrades for Tashkent is as follows:

  • Main Battery: Upgrade to 130 mm/55 on a B-2-U mount, for better turret traverse, improved ballistics, higher AP shell damage, and long-range AA defenses.
  • Hull: Upgrade to Tashkent (B) for more health, improved maneuverability, and better AA. Research of this module unlocks progression to Delny.
  • Torpedoes: Upgrade to 53-39 mod.2 for better damage, faster speed, and higher flooding chance.
  • Gun Fire Control System: Upgrade to GFCS IX mod. 2 for an extra 10% main battery range.

Optimal Configuration

As with Kiev the second Consumables slot defines how Tashkent plays, as well as two distinct builds for her. The Smoke build provides the standard utility of team cover, retreating, and smoke firing. However, a Repair build offers a unique play style giving captains a survivability increase to assist their gun-fighting capabilities.

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Tashkent are as follows:

Consider replacing Engine Room Protection in Slot 2 with the Engine Boost Modification 1 Increases the action time of the Engine Boost and Emergency Engine Power consumables.: +50% action time. Special Upgrade to extend the Engine BoostWhile active, increases a ship's speed by a fixed percentage. consumable duration by 30%.

In Slot 4, Propulsion Modification 1 Reduces time to full speed: -50% to time for reaching full power. / Increases engine power when the ship starts moving. may be preferred, particularly with a Smoke build.

Commander Skills

Tashkent is a gunboat destroyer through and through. Therefore, skills boosting her gunnery are much appreciated.

Consumables

Tashkent can equip the following consumables:

Signals

Since Tashkent is a gunboat destroyer with excellent fire starting guns, use Victor Lima (+1% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber above 160mm / +0.5% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber below 160mm. / +4% chance of causing flooding.) and India X-Ray (+1% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber above 160mm. / +0.5% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber below 160mm. / +5% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonating.) for further boosting the fire starting capabilities of the ship. Alongside them, mount Juliet Charlie (-100% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonating.) for keeping the ship from having a quick trip back to port due to a detonation.

India Delta (+20% to the amount of HP recovered when the Repair Party consumable is used.) or Sierra Bravo (+10% Hydro action; =10% DAAF reload.) should be flown to bolster the selected consumable in Slot 2.

Note that the India Delta signal flag is only useful for captains that choose her Repair Party over the Smoke Generator consumable. Likewise, the X-Ray Papa Unaone signal is only useful when combined with the Smoke Generator consumable.

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
