Trouble in the Hot Tub

It's time to make a splash—battles are going to be fought in a special hot tub to mark April Fools' Day! Choose your rubber ducky and compete for the title of "best hot tub fighter" on an updated map with animated elements and transparent water.

A total of six rubber duckies of different types are available — two destroyers, two cruisers, and two battlequacks .. er .. ships.

  • All players will immediately receive one duck of each type — X Don de la DuQue, X Luigi McQuacci, and X Quackaducko.
  • Earn 20,000 Base XP playing each starter duckie of the corresponding type to gain access to the remaining duckies— ★ Duck Punchis; ★ Furo; and ★ D.U.C.K. [a.k.a Superducks = Ed.]

All rubber duckies have a new type of armament — splashy mines. Laying these mines is similar to dropping depth charges; however, the mines do not submerge underwater. The mines explode a little while after being laid or upon contact with duckies, and they can cause flooding.

In addition to mines, rubber duckies utilize familiar weapons that have been specifically stylized for the event. Depending on the ship type, their armament can include high-explosive or armor-piercing bubbles, as well as fizzy torpedoes. High-explosive bubbles don't cause fires, but they do have chances of causing flooding.

Since the duckies are rubber, they don't take any ramming damage. If they collide with each other or with other objects on the map, they simply bounce off, gaining a speed boost.

Trouble in the Hot Tub battles will utilize a 7 vs. 7 format with Domination mode rules. The ships will be led by special duck Commanders with animated portraits.

More details about Trouble in the Hot Tub will be available in a dead serious article.

U.S. Hybrid Battleships

U.S. hybrid battleships are armed with artillery that has a good firing range but not the highest damage per minute.

A squadron of bombers that carry HE bombs acts as their aircraft armament. The large number of aircraft in each flight will allow you to deal significant damage to enemy ships and set them on fire. The squadron can also be used for reconnaissance.

The most vulnerable parts of the new ships are their large, lightly armored superstructures that house their aircraft hangars.

When Update 12.2 goes live, the U.S. hybrid battleships will become available for all players to research.

Early Access to British submarines is ongoing

Early Access to British submarines continues in Update 12.2.

During the week, you still have the opportunity to complete combat mission groups and obtain British Tokens, as well as a bonus package for VI UndineItalic text.

The Armory section dedicated to the event is available until the release of Update 12.3. In this section, you'll be able to spend your British Tokens to obtain sequential bundles that hold British submarines; the Iron Resilience permanent camouflage for VIII Sturdy; the Victoria Cross permanent camouflage for X Thrasher; and a bonus package for VIII Sturdy; as well as other rewards. You'll also have the opportunity to get additional British Tokens from random bundles in exchange for Doubloons Doubloons there.

The main armament of the new submarines is represented only by acoustic homing torpedoes with a large count per salvo, fast reload, good range and speed, but not the highest damage.

British submarines have a high dive capacity but small HP pools. Their consumables are represented by Damage Control Party with a limited number of charges, Submarine Surveillance, and Hydrophone — a standard set for submarines. Their Hydrophone has a fast cooldown time and short interval between pings but a limited number of charges, as well as a short ship-bearing range compared with submarines of other nations.

Battle Pass

Following tradition, Update 12.2 brings a new Battle Pass (BP). Earn BP Points for completing daily and weekly combat missions, advance through the BP progress bar, and move to new levels.

The final reward of the Free BP is Pan-American Tokens and containers that hold rare economic bonuses. You can use these Tokens to gain Early Access to Pan-American cruisers. The Premium BP offers even more valuable in-game items, and its final reward is VIII Ignacio Allende in Early Access.

More details about Battle Pass 12.2 will be available in a [ dedicated article].

Early Access to Pan-American cruisers

Starts: Thu. Mar. 30 3:00 AM PT / your local time: Thu. Mar. 30 5:00 AM
Ends: Wed. May 24 3:00 AM PT / your local time: Wed. May 24 5:00 AM

The Port of Rio de Janeiro has been updated to mark the event.

The event dedicated to Early Access to Pan-American cruisers starts a week after the release of Update 12.2.

The number of Tokens that can be obtained for free is sufficient to purchase Tier III–VII ships, as well as the Mayan Mystery permanent camouflage for VIII Ignacio Allende. If you purchase random bundles that hold additional Tokens for Free XP, you can obtain the Muisca Gold permanent camouflage for IX Santander.

Features of the New Ships

The new cruisers are only armed with AP shells with enhanced ricochet angles. Starting from Tier VI, they have access to Combat Instructions — activating these increases their consumable cooldown speed. The ships have weak armor but good concealment.

Starting from Tier II, the ships have access to Repair Party. From Tier VI, they have access to Specialized Repair Teams, which restores a considerable portion of the damage received. And from Tier VIII, they have access to the Surveillance Radar consumable.

Medium and long ranges are optimal for engagements; however, the ships are armed with torpedoes with medium characteristics for forced encounters at close range.

Thanks to the bonus provided by Combat Instructions, which is activated by continuously firing at enemy ships, the cruisers can frequently use Specialized Repair Teams, which restores a significant amount of hit points, including citadel hit points. This allows the cruisers to play quite aggressively and "trade" their HP points profitably.

You'll find all details about Early Access to Pan-American cruisers in a [ dedicated article] on our website.

Changes to the Battle Economy

The economic reward for transferring intelligence data has been increased to match the level of rewards for dealing damage from the main armament types. Supporting allies is now fairly rewarded without forcing players to choose between personal effectiveness and helping their team. You can evaluate damage upon your spotting in the detailed post-battle statistics. This parameter was added to these statistics in Update 12.0.

To balance these changes and keep average earnings at the same level, the rewards for dealing damage, detecting torpedoes, and earning the "Spotted" and "Defended" ribbons have been reduced. The Credit reward for receiving potential damage has been reduced for battleships. The rewards for detecting ships and torpedoes are now the same for all ship types.

The reward for dealing damage with secondary battery guns has been increased to be similar to the reward for dealing damage with primary armament types. This means that the average earnings of battleships with secondary armament-focused game play will increase to the level of their peers.

The average XP and Credit earnings for some ship types and tiers have been slightly changed. The changes are aimed at minimizing differences in the average earnings of all ship types at the same tier. Previously, differences at high tiers could reach 10%, but now they are reduced to 2%. The most significant changes have been made to Tier V–VII battleships: They will now receive 5% fewer Credits Credits. The profitability of Tier V–IX destroyers in Credits and XP has been increased by 1–3%, depending on the tier. The profitability of super carriers and super cruisers has been reduced: They will now receive 8% less XP and 6% fewer Credits Credits.

These changes will not affect submarines because their economy has already received similar changes in Update 0.11.9.

Ranked Battles

Update 12.2 kicks off the Eleventh Season of Ranked Battles, and you’ll be able to participate playing all ship types. The battles will utilize different formats.

Bronze and Silver Leagues

6 vs. 6 playing Tier VIII–IX ships

Gold League

6 vs. 6 playing Tier X ships.

In all leagues of this season, only the top XP earner on the losing team will keep a Star.

All details about the Eleventh Season of Ranked Battles are available in a dedicated article on our website.

Armory

With the release of Update 12.2, IX Illinois will become available in the Armory. The ship is a variant of an Iowa-class battleship that is re-equipped with more powerful AA guns and 203 mm main battery artillery housed in quadruple-gun turrets.

The ship combines the armor of a battleship and the main battery of a cruiser. She has a high firing rate and accuracy, but low armor penetration and damage per salvo. Her AP shells have enhanced ricochet angles. The battleship has a small HP pool but has access to enhanced Damage Control Party and Repair Party. The ship enjoys strong AA defenses and high speed.

IX Illinois is available in exchange for Research Points 51,000 Research Points.

Brawls

Update 12.2 features three Brawls in different formats.

The first Brawl utilizes a 2 vs. 2 format playing Tier IX ships. You can participate in Divisions of up to two players.

No more than one battleship, two cruisers, and two destroyers per team.

Starts: Mon. Mar. 27 11:00 AM Central
Ends: Mon. Apr. 03 4:00 AM Central

More details will be available in a dedicated article on our website.

Content Additions and Changes

Bling

We've added four Submarine Commander emblems, which are similar to existing emblems for other ship types.

The condition for obtaining emblems is to achieve a certain average damage value per battle playing submarines over the last 100 battles. This can be done in Random Battles playing submarines of specific tiers.

Emblem Submarine tiers Average damage Submarine Commander III VIII, X 23,000 Submarine Commander II VIII, X 26,000 Submarine Commander I VIII, X 40,000 Submarine Commander. Elite Forces X 60,000

Dynamic Permacamos

We've added ships IX STAR Kitakaze and VIII STAR Edinburgh with characteristics similar to those of IX Kitakaze and VIII Edinburgh, respectively, as well as Commanders Andromeda and Triangulum with special voiceovers.
