Vittorio Veneto — Italian Tier VIII battleship.

The design of battleships that met the requirements of the Washington Naval Treaty began in the late 1920s and early 1930s in Italy. The resulting project was a ship with a displacement of 35,000 tons and armament of nine 381 mm guns. Vittorio Veneto was laid down in 1934 and entered service six years later. During World War II, the battleship participated in operations in the Mediterranean Sea, in the Battles of Cape Teulada and Cape Matapan, and intercepted Maltese convoys of the British fleet.

Player Opinion

Pros:

Has access to Semi-Armor Piercing main battery ammunition.
Flat ballistics and fast flight time makes aiming and leading very easy
Has Spotting Aircraft  to compensate for relatively short main battery range.
Great turret angles and turret traverse, coupled with the great side armor makes Venetto a great kitting and tanking ship.
Good torpedo protection.
Decent speed of 30 knots.
Has access to Exhaust Smoke Generator  that allows the ship to remain undetected at full speed.

Cons:

On the low end in terms of health pool compared to tier VIII counterparts.
Does not have access to High Explosive main battery ammunition.
Slow main battery reload time of 34 seconds.
Incosistent dispersion of main battery salvos.
Despite good armor protection, turning broadside will often result in citadels.
Slow stock rudder shift, but it gets better with the updated hull.
While she has a lot of secondaries, most of them are 90mm, meaning they won't pen DDs.
While the AA is decent, it's mostly short range, meaning it won't stop strikes.

Research

Recommended module research order:

Hull (B) For maneuverability and about 9% more health. Research of this module unlocks progression to Lepanto.
Gun Fire Control System: Upgrade to SDT 8 mod.2 for an extra 10% range on the main battery.
