?For its tier, the Wyoming is a fairly decent ship, and gives you a taste of the pattern that the next few ships of the U.S. battleship line will follow. The armor is quite good, with the first armor belt in the line and much improved firing range of 14.1 km once upgraded. She is able to withstand multiple hits, even when it faces higher tier ships and torpedoes. With its 6 superfiring turrets of 2 guns each, she poses a serious threat to any low tier ships in the hand of an experience player and can be a great pain to even higher tier Battleships. Wyoming does have harsh limitations however when it comes to speed (like most US Battleships), and while its top speed of 20.5 kts once upgraded is a significant improvement over South Carolina, she will still have difficulty in catching up to her opponents.+After upgrading from South Carolina, players will be happy to play Wyoming at Tier IV. She is a worthy upgrade, being well-armored and having decent firepower. Additionally, Wyoming benefits from protected matchmaking. Unless a player joins a division with a Tier V ship, the highest tier game Wyoming will encounter is Tier V. This benefits Wyoming, as she will never see the powerful ships at Tier VI. Wyoming is a well armored dreadnought, making her one of the toughest ships in the lower tiers. This armor allows her to brawl with Tier V battleships, but care should still be taken to avoid showing full broadside to battleships when possible. Wyoming is armed with six turrets, each with two guns. These guns provide her with a devastating broadside — but only if she connects with her target.
 +
+Counteracting the armor and firepower, Wyoming’s turrets are very slow turning, so it is extremely important to try to plan maneuvers in advance and try to avoid having to complete a 180-degree turret rotation in the heat of battle. This is doubly important when her maneuverability is considered. Wyoming is very slow, and it may take her an entire game to get across the map. As the battle begins, it is hugely important to try to read the map and see which way the enemy is going. However, Wyoming has excellent gun range for a Tier IV battleship, which allows her to hit distant targets if she finds herself out of position. At close range, Wyoming has a secondary battery that can tear apart destroyers. This is useful if a destroyer manages to sneak up on her. Overall, Wyoming is a good ship that is capable of devastating cruisers as well as battleships. To be used to her maximum potential, it is essential to read the map and plan tactical maneuvers and engagements prior to carrying them out. Players will experience the most success when supported by friendly destroyers and cruisers.

?* Lots of main battery guns: 6x2 superfiring turrets can deliver a tremendous broadside, literally twice the shells her IJN tier counterpart Myogi can fire+* Devastating broadside allows Wyoming to punish broadside cruisers and battleships and has excellent main battery firing range (for her tier) when fully upgraded.
?* Effective guns: 12" guns are effective for tier, and will be able to citadel battleships of the same tier and all IJN battleships she will encounter+* Armor piercing (AP) shells can penetrate the armor and citadel of any ship she can encounter.
?* Effective close range defense: 5" secondary battery and sheer number of 12" main guns must be taken seriously by destroyers +* Capable of destroying enemy destroyers that wander too close.
?* Good armor for tier: includes designed 11" belt+* Well armored for her tier; armor belt is capable of repelling small caliber shells.
?* Very good maneuverability: she will be able to evade many of the torpedoes fired at her+* With a short turning radius, Wyoming is capable of dodging torpedoes surprisingly well.
?* Overall, one of the best USN battleships for its tier, due to the enormous amount of guns it has+* Decent anti-aircraft suite. When fully upgraded, Wyoming has a fighting chance against enemy aircraft.

?* Mediocre gun range: while she will be able to reply to a cruiser's challenge, Myogi and higher tier IJN battleships will far outrange her+* Painfully slow; most cruisers and destroyers are capable of outrunning Wyoming.
?* Slow top speed: being able to make only 20.5kts, she will struggle in getting into position and adapt to a quickly changing arena+* Weak against torpedoes, care should be taken to try to avoid taking hits when possible.
?* Weak torpedo protection: torpedo bulges will mitigate only a small proportion of damage, and large number of magazines can be detonated by torpedoes+* Turret 3 has very bad firing angles that require the ship expose much of her broadside to use.
+* Very slow turret traverse speed.
+* Turret configuration is a curveball to players fresh off of South Carolina.
+* Hull (B) makes the secondary battery weakest in the game for a battleship with only three slow-firing, short-range barrels per side.

?With an anti-air rating of 0 and a maneuverability rating of 8 in the stock configuration, it is pretty obvious why she is promptly sunk by air launched torpedoes. One of the first things that you should get is the propulsion upgrade. Whilst it doesn't help with aircraft, the increase in maneuverability and speed is noticeable. After upgrading the propulsion, the hull is probably best done next. With a default gun range of 12.8km, the Wyoming still out-ranges most of the ships at the same tier and the addition of AA guns and the extra maneuverability is well worth it. Once you have done the hull there is only the aiming system to go, and fully upgraded this a potent war machine. +This is a suggested research path:
 +# Propulsion Mod. 2
 +# (B) Hull
+# Mk4 Gun Fire Control System Mod. 2

+Players should prioritize the propulsion upgrade first to improve her top speed. Afterwards, the hull upgrade is necessary to further improve her maneuverability (by reducing rudder shift time), increase main battery turret rotation, and install anti-aircraft armaments, which will be important against the Tier IV carriers. Finally, the range upgrade should be researched and mounted to provide with excellent firing range.

 +====Design====
+The Wyoming-class was a pair of dreadnought battleships built for the United States Navy. The two ships, Wyoming and Arkansas, were authorized in early 1909, and they were built between 1910 and 1912. They were the fourth dreadnought design of the US Navy, and they marked an incremental improvement over the preceding Florida class. The primary changes being the addition of a sixth twin gun turret, bringing the number of 12-inch (305 mm) guns to twelve, and improved armor protection, including the first use of a torpedo bulkhead in an American battleship design. The Navy had seriously considered a significantly more powerful 14-inch(356 mm) gun, but it would have entailed significant delays and required extensive improvements to accommodate what would have been much larger ships.
 +
 +====Service====
+The two ships frequently served together, first in the Atlantic Fleet in the 1910s. Both vessels were deployed to British waters after the United States entered World War I in April 1917 to reinforce the Royal Navy's Grand Fleet. They served in the Pacific Fleet in 1919–21, before both returned to the Atlantic Fleet. Much of their time in the Atlantic Fleet was spent conducting peacetime training exercises, along with taking cadets from the US Naval Academy on training cruises. Wyoming and Arkansas were heavily modernized in the mid-1920s, receiving more efficient oil-fired boilers to replace their old coal-fired models, improved deck armor to protect against plunging fire, anti-torpedo bulges to increase their resistance to underwater damage, and anti-aircraft guns to defend against aerial attacks.
 +
+The London Naval Treaty of 1930 mandated that Wyoming be demilitarized; she accordingly was converted into a training ship, with half of her main battery turrets, belt armor, and anti-torpedo bulges removed. Arkansas was permitted to continue in service with the fleet, however. After the United States entered World War II, Arkansas was used to escort convoys to North Africa. By 1944, she had been assigned as a coastal bombardment vessel; in this role, she supported Allied landings at Normandy (Operation Overlord) and southern France (Operation Dragoon) before being transferred to the Pacific, where she provided fire support to Marines fighting on Iwo Jima and at Okinawa in 1945. Wyoming, meanwhile, continued as a training ship, being modified further in 1944 to include the various types of anti-aircraft guns that trainees would operate in the fleet. Both ships were decommissioned shortly after the war, with Arkansas being expended as a target ship during the 1946 nuclear tests at Operation Crossroads, and Wyoming being sold for scrap in 1947.

+* Hull (B) is actually Wyomings sister ship, Arkansas. The tripod foremast was unique to Arkansas.
+* Hull (B) depicts Arkansas in her September 1942 refit. However, she should have twenty (20) single 20mm Oerlikon guns, not fourteen (14) single M2 Brownings. She also received two more 3" (76mm)/50 caliber AA guns for a total of ten; Hull (B) has only eight.
+* Her December 1942 refit, which added two more quadruple 1.1" (28mm) AA guns and six single 20mm Oerlikons is missing.
+* Her May 1943 refit, which replaced the eight quad 1.1" guns with eight quad 40mm Bofors is also missing. By 1944, Arkansas had nine quadruple 40mm Bofors guns.
+* All 26 of Arkansas 20mm Oerlikon guns are missing.
+* Aircraft catapult for OS2U Kingfisher floatplane on turret #3 is missing.

Performance

After upgrading from South Carolina, players will be happy to play Wyoming at Tier IV. She is a worthy upgrade, being well-armored and having decent firepower. Additionally, Wyoming benefits from protected matchmaking. Unless a player joins a division with a Tier V ship, the highest tier game Wyoming will encounter is Tier V. Players will experience the most success when supported by friendly destroyers and cruisers.

Pros:

  • Devastating broadside allows Wyoming to punish broadside cruisers and battleships and has excellent main battery firing range (for her tier) when fully upgraded.
  • Armor piercing (AP) shells can penetrate the armor and citadel of any ship she can encounter.
  • Capable of destroying enemy destroyers that wander too close.

Cons:

  • Turret 3 has very bad firing angles that require the ship expose much of her broadside to use.
  • Very slow turret traverse speed.
  • Turret configuration is a curveball to players fresh off of South Carolina.
  • Hull (B) makes the secondary battery weakest in the game for a battleship with only three slow-firing, short-range barrels per side.

In replay files, Wyoming is named Arkansas.

Research

This is a suggested research path:

  1. Propulsion Mod. 2
  2. Wyoming (B) Hull
  3. Mk4 Gun Fire Control System Mod. 2

Players should prioritize the propulsion upgrade first to improve her top speed. Afterwards, the hull upgrade is necessary to further improve her maneuverability (by reducing rudder shift time), increase main battery turret rotation, and install anti-aircraft armaments, which will be important against the Tier IV carriers. Finally, the range upgrade should be researched and mounted to provide Wyoming with excellent firing range.

Optimal Configuration

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Wyoming are as follows:

Commander Skills

Consumables

Wyoming can equip the following consumables:

Premium versions of the consumables will greatly increase the player's survivability, but the costs of the consumables will usually result in a net loss of credits for the player due to the low-credit earning at this tier.

Camouflage

Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 2 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.

Signals

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
