Yamato — Japanese Tier X battleship.
The preliminary draft design of the battleship developed in Japan in the mid-1930s had a displacement of 49,000–69,500 tons, a speed of 24–31 knots, and a main gun caliber of 410–460 mm in various versions. The final version was Yamato, the largest battleship in the world. Admiral Yamamoto took command of the Japanese forces from her bridge during the Battle of Midway. On April 7, 1945, Yamato was sunk off Kyūshū island by attacking U.S. Navy aircraft during Operation Ten-Go.

Player Opinion
Performance
Pros:
- Unrivaled guns, can even penetrate other battleships at close range when they're bow on
- Extremely good dispersion but it is still hard to hit anything beyond 18km
- Second largest HP Pool and heaviest armor in-game
- Large quantity of secondaries can easily kill a DD at very close range
- Surprisingly good agility for its size
- Impressive torpedo bulge as long as torpedoes hit your torpedo belt
- Highest range in-game but shells take a long time to travel and are extremely inaccurate when making use of it
Cons:
- Extremely large size but still smaller than Izumo and the Kurfürst (Yamato 263m, Izumo 290m, GK 313m)
- Very high notoriety and potential danger makes her a priority target
- Even with upgraded AA the lack of short range AA guns will make you very vulnerable to enemy carriers should their strike aircraft get close enough to dump their payload
- Extremely slow turret traverse rate of 72 seconds for traversing 180 degrees.
- Poor shell velocity of the main battery makes it difficult to hit distant targets.
- Long rudder shift time.
- Not invincible, you still need your team.
- Broadside can be easily penetrated by other battleships
- Extremely vulnerable to fires due to the percent damage dealt to health pools.
- Any caliber size (even from 4 tiers lower) can really easily set her on fire 2-4 times
- Portion of her frontal deck armor relies heavily on angle.
- AP penetration at longer range is abysmal
- Despite being heavily armored, her citadel is still easily hit.
- Constantly targeted by aircraft carriers and even a Shokaku/Lexington can get most of her planes through and strike you due to the lack of AA
Research
There are no researchable modules as this ship is sold in her elite configuration.
Upgrades
- Gun Fire Control System Modification 1 will reduce the dispersion of her main batteries, which will improve her ability to hit things at the extreme ranges she fires
Captain's Skills
- Expert Marksman will improve her very slow turret traverse from 72 seconds to 56 seconds for 180 degrees
