Player Opinion
Performance
Yoshino is a Japanese heavy cruiser at Tier X. She is armed with nine high-caliber main guns housed in three turrets. For her size, she is relatively quick and agile, and her main battery packs a punch. Further comprising her arsenal are long-range torpedoes and an effective anti-aircraft suite.
Yoshino can best be described as a sort of "hybrid" between the Tier X Japanese battleship Yamato and cruiser Zao. Her size, hit-point pool, large-caliber guns, superstructure design, and gun layout make players feel confident as if they are in a battleship. However, Yoshino is fragile when broadside. Her extremely vulnerable citadel means that a poorly timed maneuver can leave Yoshino crippled or sinking. However, when properly angled, she is capable of delivering devastating shots to the enemy with relatively effective protection. All enemy cruisers must take care not to find themselves broadside to Yoshino, as they will surely be punished. Yoshino has heavy armor, meaning that unless she is broadside, cruisers will have a hard time dealing reliable damage with armor-piercing (AP) rounds. She has a somewhat sluggish reload time, meaning that players must choose their shots carefully. Yoshino is a versatile and formidable ship, capable of being a dangerous threat to nearly any enemy.Pros:
- High caliber, accurate main battery.
- Access to 16 of Shimakaze's 20 kilometer hard-hitting torpedoes, with 2 launchers of 4 torpedoes on each side
- Effective AA armament.
- Decent armor protects her when angled.
- Large hit point pool.
- Relatively small superstructure, making it hard for destroyers to deal with Yoshino with their guns.
- Very long base range, which can be enhanced even further with Spotting Aircraft .
- AP has high penetration, having an edge over Puerto Rico at range.
Cons:
- Sluggish turret traverse and reload time.
- Very large and vulnerable citadel if not angled correctly
- Poor handling for a tier 10 cruiser
