? | ''Yue Yang'' (岳陽; DD-5 upon commissioning by the ROCN, DD-905 during early 1980s), ex-''USS Haynsworth'' transferred to Taiwan on 12 May 1970, is a member of the "second generation" ''Yang''-class destroyer (陽字號驅逐艦; including Allen M. Sumner and Gearing classes, whereas former Imperial Japanese reparations and former US Navy Benson & Gleaves classes being the "first generation") to enter service with the Republic of China Navy. ''Yue Yang'' has the distinction as one of the ''Jīngzhuāng'' ships (精裝艦)- the first guided-missile destroyers to serve in the ROCN- receiving the Gabriel II missile system on 25 August, 1975 and a Sea Chaparral anti-aircraft missile launcher. After 28 years of service, she is finally decommissioned on 16, January, 1999. | + | ''Yue Yang'' (岳陽; DD-5 upon commissioning by the ROCN, DD-905 during early 1980s), ex-''USS Haynsworth'' transferred to Taiwan on 12 May 1970, is a member of the "second generation" ''Yang''-class destroyer (陽字號驅逐艦; including Allen M. ? | As open armed conflict between the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China has ended by the time ''Yue Yang'' entered service, she spent her career with the ROCN carrying out patrols and never fired a shot in anger. Her true importance lies with the fact that she and her two sister ships heralded the age of modern naval warfare into the ROCN during the ensuing years of political hardship. | + | As open armed conflict between the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China has ended by the time ''Yue Yang'' entered service, she spent her career with the ROCN carrying out patrols and never fired a shot in anger.
