Why templates?

I don't get why the actual text blocks about the individual consumables are linked up using templates on this page. I didn't even know what they were and had to research it first. It makes it needlessly hard to contribute, the complete opposite of the whole Wiki spirit. If nobody gives me a plausible reason, I'll change all that in two weeks and make this a regular, contiguous page without those templates.--Nautical_Metaphor:eu (talk) 22:35, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

It's done this way because navigating thousands of lines of code for tables that don't need updating is irritating and time-wasting. I originally wrote this page that way, and after a year of having to scroll and scroll and scroll to find one line that needed fixing, I broke it out because it's easier to manage and keep current.SeaRaptor00:na (talk) 03:50, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
