FOR INCOMING XBOX WIKI EDITORS: TECHNICAL NOTES

Hello and welcome to you, recently recruited editors of the Xbox World of Tanks wiki pages!

I am ForcestormX, a WG wiki project editor and the interim template and expansions overseer. For those of you familiar with the WoT wiki since its return to activity, and for those of you who are new both, I would like to note some various errata and other items so that you will not be confused by them as time passes.

The reasoning why I feel such a step is necessary, I will of course endeavor first to explain. The Xbox wiki, in general, is not unique at the point of its inception. In the process of its creation, it's front page was copied and modified from others, its tankdata page was modified off of WoWP as a base, and each of its tank pages on launch day is created from an exact carbon copy of its PC counterpart's page.

Why do I feel I should note this? To observe several unique properties related to the Xbox wiki which, relative to the others (especially the PC variant) may or may not be positive differences.

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, as of this writing and the day you will first have access to the Xbox wiki, the Xbox tank pages will *not* be tailored specifically to Xbox. They will still be written for PC tanks, and may have insignificant to major differences from how Xbox WoT is played and handled as a direct result of this. It will be up to you, the Xbox experts, to spot and rectify these differences.

Another major item of note for the Xbox wiki is the sidebar functionality. It only lists the stock statistics for any given tank. This is because in order to pull any information off the Xbox statistics database, the wiki must use the widgets functionality (which is the basis for WoWP, Xbox, and Blitz, as well as the future basis for WoWS). Unfortunately, compared to our understanding of combatchars (the underpinning of the PC WoT wiki pages), the English-language wiki staff are much less knowledgeable regarding the function of the newer widgets, and for the moment we are not able to further upgrade the functionality of the sidebar for the widget-based products. This also applies to a number of other features on the PC WoT wiki not found elsewhere, as combatchars, though older and nearly impenetrable to the uninitiated, remains better known and has been adapted to a large range of requirements.

What we have attempted to do, however, is to ease the transition into the Xbox wiki for you by removing much of the unneeded grunt-work that would otherwise have existed. You do have a base template for page creation, you already have historical information and historical galleries for all tanks, and you do have some player opinions although they of course require modification. The module lists do work fully, and we are still working on feverishly on getting the footers to full function.

I hope that this information above presents some useful information, and if you have additional questions or extant issues related to our setup work that needs to be addressed, please comment below.

Misfire42 here, another editor. We do have a bit more information on basic formatting and what we want from pages, although it's currently unfinished. These can be found at User:Misfire42:na/Welcome and User:Misfire42:na/Manual of Style. Happy editing, and ask if you have any questions. --Misfire42 (talk) 01:41, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
xXGolfTeeXx here. What is planned on getting the current tank packages that are used in WOTXbox set up vs the current --xX_GolfTee_Xx:xbox (talk) 02:20, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
Not sure what you are trying to say or ask, please elaborate. Haswell:na (talk) 06:26, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
In the Xbox version tanks are not equipped with individual modules. It uses a package system. Sometimes the package is one new module. Sometimes it is 2 to 3. In the current form this wiki does not represent the package system.--xX_GolfTee_Xx:xbox (talk) 21:12, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
Noted, we'll see if this can be changed. It's also fairly inconvenient for us editors to track the differences between the game titles since very few of us actually play Xbox. There's also a dedicated talk page as a centralized discussion area, I highly encourage all editors to use it in order to identify issues that might need to be fixed, raise suggestions and just general comments about anything wiki-related. The 360 just added some french tanks this week. --xX_GolfTee_Xx:xbox (talk) 23:53, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

We need a page for the T-34-88. BR M95 OE

I think the top left home page image that currently has the 360 edition under it should be updated to the newer Xbox logo. https://images-eds-ssl.xboxlive.com/image?url=8Oaj9Ryq1G1_p3lLnXlsaZgGzAie6Mnu24_PawYuDYIoH77pJ.X5Z.MqQPibUVTcBS.Va6CIJ_O8KA5vNOse9FwJvUyUdHinLghPEwuboBWPV_F8nf33iNLPJSo7XrvDi.mYfpbXwjtphsXAPb1V8CELFuhbbN5azNhi3o04EF6744eER65pIPBgHNyKLn38qiCqgOCbh2vImQ2jWGbGbcsZE1IF4sF67lRmVBo28gE-&format=jpg --Scinfaxi:na (talk) 05:03, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Welp, I'm terrible at messing with images, and that anything I produce wouldn't be official anyways. Unless I get something from WG to work with, I'd prefer not to tinker with that yet. --Haswell:na (talk) 12:34, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
