The IS-2 is a Chinese tier 7 heavy tank.
Soviet IS-2 tanks were exported to China in the early 1950s and were used during the Korean War from 1950 through 1953. According to U.S. reconnaissance data, at least four Chinese tank companies deployed in Korea had the IS-2 tank, with five tanks in each company. The IS-2 remained in Chinese service until the late 1950s. Production was discontinued due to a shortage of spare parts and the launch of the Type 59 project. A few IS-2 tanks were exported to Vietnam, where they fought in the final stage of the Indochina War of 1946–1954.
The IS-2 leads to the 110.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Little bit more health than IS
- The 122mm guns fire HEAT premium rounds with 83mm more penetration than the IS which fires APCR premium rounds
- Better mobility than IS on flat surface thanks to better traverse speed and less ground resistance
- 38km/hr top speed equivelent to IS-3 can be easily reached on flat terrain
- 90mm frontal armor sloped at 60 degree gives IS-2 much better protection than IS
Cons:
- Sluggish when going uphill compare to soviet IS due to low engine power
- Research of top gun is not carried over from Soviet tree as some might believe
- Very poor gun depression on top 2 guns, a full degree worse than same gun on IS. -5 vs -6 deg on IS.
- Result cannot shoot down hill without going over crest and exposing yourself.
- Poor gun accuracy at mid to long range. Seems worse than top gun on IS.
Performance
It should be noted that the IS and the IS-2 share a lot of characteristics and should be played almost the same except IS-2's frontal effective armor is much better than the soviet IS and it can be angled like german heavies such as Tiger II. Its 300mm penetration HEAT shell is also a great asset while playing against Tier 9 heavies.
Probably not a "Keeper" for most people. Makes a pleasant grind to the Tier-8 110.
