The AMX M4 mle. 45 is a French tier 7 heavy tank.
Development of this heavy tank started in 1945. The vehicle incorporated several design features of the Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B Tiger II tank. The vehicle existed only in blueprints. Later the AMX M4 (1945) became a prototype for the AMX 50 100.
The AMX M4(1945) can be considered an evolution of the ARL 44 play-style, as it now boasts an upgraded armor, proper track defense and carries the same type of weapons as the ARL, with an even greater advantage: the guns will feel much more nimbler, faster at aiming, better reload and about the same accuracy. Also, The mobility will remain about the same until you research the top engine that will result in great flexibility to adverse situations.
Mind that this tank is best played as a long or medium range sniper, since its sides are still weaker than most, and adapting to this tank will greatly help for the oncoming high-end part of the rest of the french line, as they have similar playstile with excellent guns but unreliable armor.
The AMX M4 mle. 45 leads to the AMX 50 100, and the AMX 65 t.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Excellent gun selection
- Above average aim time, reload and Turret traverse
- Can rotate in Place
- Good Mobility
- Great Radio signal range
Cons:
- Weak Side Armor for hull and turret
Performance
The M4 1945 plays very much like it's teir 7 german counter part the Tiger. It has decent health and mobility, it can bounce a few shots, as long as they're aimed at the front and you're angled properly, and it has a decent gun capable of penetrating most Teir 9's if not from the front then at least from the flanks and rear.
All around it is a decent upgrade from the ARL 44. More health and more firepower with about the same mobility with 1 engine upgrade.
Early Research
- As stock, you should be able to equip the First engine upgrade, the radio, the 90mm F3 or the 105mm Cannon already since they where researched from the ARL 44 previously
- If you skipped the 105mm cannon, research the suspension first
- Research the Turret
- From there you should Research or equip the 105mm cannon or the 90mm DCA 45 if it was previously researched from the ARL 44
- Research the engine(s)
- Finally, research the Radio if you hadn't previously done so
- Go from there

Historical Info
Development history
The M 4 closely resembled the German King Tiger in general form, though the turret was to be made of welded sections; but to limit the weight to a desired thirty metric tonnes the proportions were rather smaller and the armour had a maximum of just thirty millimetres. Like the later German tanks of the war it had, in this case eight, overlapping road wheels. Part of the project was to study whether a modern torsion bar suspension should be used or the height lowered by ten centimetres through a fitting of leaf or coil springs. Unfortunately, while copying German idea of overlapping suspension wheels, French engineers had no idea why German engineers had used this maintenance heavy solution. The Germans were motivated by a shortage of high quality rubber, necessitating large road wheels to lower tyre tension, which were then made to overlap in order to better distribute the load pressure. As France had no trouble obtaining rubber of the desired quality, this feature was superfluous. Two prototypes of the M 4 were ordered, but the Army soon indicated that a protection level of thirty millimetres was unacceptably low. In response, the armour was increased and it was decided to install a novel oscillating turret which resulted in the first prototype under the designation of AMX 50. No prototypes under original M 4 specification were produced.
