The FCM 36 Pak 40 is a French tier 3 premium tank destroyer.
In 1943, ten FCM 36 tanks captured by the Germans were converted into tank destroyers. The vehicles fought in France with the Verstärkte Schnelle Brigade West.
With a thinly armored, open-top superstructure and weak engine, the FCM 36 Pak 40 has a hard time defending itself when caught in the open and needs to be thoroughly concealed. When at a safe distance however, the FCM's powerful 75mm cannon and extremely high 400m view range enable it to do a great amount of damage in very little time.

Performance
The FCM 36 Pak 40, armed with its namesake Pak 40 gun, is a textbook sniper. The 75mm gun has enough penetration to damage even tier V heavy tanks and also has very good alpha damage for a tier III gun. The gun's relatively short reload time of roughly 3.6 seconds means that the FCM also has a higher DPM than most tier III tank destroyers. Its 400m view range enables it to stay invisible by positioning itself far outside the view range of most enemy tanks, even those two tiers higher than the FCM. When left alone in a good vantage point, an FCM is capable of doing devastating amounts of damage in a short amount of time.
Though it may be a highly efficient sniper, the FCM almost completely dependent upon distance, concealment, and allied support to keep it safe. With a 91hp engine, the FCM is extremely slow moving and can't relocate quickly. The FCM can't count on its armor to defend it either (the armor ratings given in-game are for the FCM's lower hull, and don't apply to the very large and much more poorly armored superstructure on top of the tank). FCM drivers need also be cautious of being spotted even beyond the range of enemy tank guns, as it is a prime target for artillery.
Compared to Similar Tanks
Armed with the same 75mm Pak 40 cannon as the Marder II, the FCM is often compared to it. Despite the fact that two tanks share the same gun, the Marder's gun, oddly, has better penetration values. The Marder also has a much wider traverse range, but gets this at a great cost to its accuracy and aim time. Thus, the FCM is far better at aiming and hitting long-range shots. Though both tanks are poorly armored and relatively slow, the Marder is often significantly less capable due to its lower accuracy, aim time, rate of fire, and view range, but maintains higher mobility than the FCM.

Although a German conversion, this tank was instead introduced to the game for the French tech tree. The markings are French roundels instead of the German Balkenkreuz.
