The FCM 50 t is a French tier 8 premium heavy tank.
Development was started in December 1945. The vehicle was conceived as an alternative for the AMX 50t and combined archaic features typical of the pre-war French tank-construction industry as well as German innovations. The vehicle was to be equipped with an additional container trailer, equipment for underwater driving, and a demountable mine clearer.
Experienced players with the French heavy tank tree will find this tank equipped with the well-proven and accurate 90mm DCA-45 gun, with the advantages of having an excellent aim time, accuracy and reload over the tier 6 and 7 regular tanks. The gun carries decent penetration to handle most tanks it can encounter. Sadly the damage is still rather weak at that tier, and while the frontal armor can be surprisingly bouncy and the tank itself very mobile, the sides and rear are unreliable for protection, and won't survive being rammed should it come to that.
The FCM 50 t is an excellent crew trainer for the other French heavy tanks, and the credit income won't disappoint. Additionally, although classified as a heavy, this is a medium tank in playstyle and should be thought as such.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- High top speed, combined with quick acceleration
- Excellent tank traverse, can turn on a dime
- Great penetration, better than even the Panther II
- Good credit maker, due to the high DPM and accuracy combined with cheap ammo costs.
- Great view range
Cons:
- Average armor for a heavy, though very good compared to tier 8 mediums
- Large silhouette and consequently very poor camouflage
- Low alpha damage
- Expensive to buy
- Prone to module and crew damage
Performance
For all intents and purposes, the FCM 50 t is a medium tank labeled as a heavy tank, with all the pros and cons that come from it. With average armor, a 90mm gun, high top speed and quick acceleration, it's best to play this tank as you would a medium tank using cover, flanking tactics and aiming for weak spots to disable the enemy to allow you to gain the upper hand and run circles around your target.
The gun equipped on the tank is very similar to the top tier gun of the ARL 44. The main differences include higher ammo capacity, higher rate of fire, better accuracy, faster aim time and better gun elevation but worse gun depression. It can be difficult to take advantage of the high rate of fire of this tank due to its weak armor (unloading shells keeps it exposed for a period of time), but the gun's rate of fire is often fast enough to take an opening shot at a high tier, slow-to-reload target and follow it up with a second shot before the enemy can reload a second time.
The playstyle of this tank is quite similar to the Panther II. Additionally, if one does a comparison between the two one might find that it takes the role even better - having higher penetration, armor, rate of fire, aim time, traverse speed, and even higher view range!
There are only a few optimal equipment choices for this tank. They are the Tank Gun Rammer to reduce reload time and the Vertical Stabilizer to drastically improve gun performance, allowing the already accurate gun to be shot on the move. The third equipment choice is preferential; a Gun Laying Drive will reduce aim time when stopped and help snipe more quickly, Coated Optics increases view range by 10% (which brings you close to the 445 meter maximum), and Vents to help all stats - with the additional benefit of making Brothers in Arms perk even more effective. The choice is yours.
