The AMX Chasseur de chars is a French tier 8 premium medium tank.
In 1946, the AMX company presented this design for a new vehicle. The powerful engine and light weight would have made the vehicle highly mobile, and the 90-mm gun was equipped with a mechanical ammunition system for a high rate of fire. However, the large dimensions of the vehicle, its thin armor, high cost, and the complexity of the design made it unappealing, and the project never advanced to a prototype.
The closest match gameplay-wise for AMX CDC are japanese medium tanks. Players experienced with japanese mediums will feel right at home. The key features describing the CDC are the outstanding (almost light tank level) mobility, efficient armament, and last but not least paper-thin armor. And the armor is almost literally paper-thin in this case, not mentioning the unusually large size of the vehicle hull, which is bigger than most heavy tanks of its tier. Most tanks in tiers 9 and 10 will overmatch your 30 mm thick armor plates with ease, which means full damage from incoming High Explosive shells too. No wonder the tank needs an extraordinally cautious and careful play style in order not to get killed in the very first minutes of the battle. Smart combination of use of cover (guerilla peek-a-boo), your outstanding nimbleness, and the great gun depression is vital to mastering this fragile but dangerous tank.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Powerful gun: accurate, fast-firing and aiming, high-penetrating, high shell velocity
- High top speed and amazing acceleration; thanks to the ridiculously powerful engine
- Great gun depression at 10 degrees; effective on hilly terrain
- High ammunition count
- Good credit-making ability for its price
Cons:
- Non-existent armour
- Average camouflage values and huge size (especially length) for a medium; even bigger than some heavies in-game
- Traverse feels a bit sluggish compared to the speed and acceleration of the tank
- Frequent ammo rack damage, however it rarely explodes when hit
- No preferential matchmaking
Performance
The CDC while have good speed it have no armor, so you MUST find hard cover when shooting. Abusing your 10 degrees of gun depression on hilly terrain is also a good way to stay covered. The speed allow it to get nice sniping spots on early game and become a flanker in late game. Avoid staying in open for long time - when you're spotted in this situation, you are dead. The CDC is also a good credit farmer. a decent game can make up to 28k - 38k credits on profit.
