This tank is great at wreaking a heavy tank/slow TD's day. It is very slow compared to its counterparts, and has trouble reaching its low top speed of 58 km/h. But with its great forward gun depression of -10 degrees it can make good use of terrain to hide its hull while firing. Flanking can be done, but one should equip 105-Octane if one intends to flank in this tank frequently. If you like true scouts, this isn't the tank for you. If you like tanks capable of Peek-a-booming, going hull-down, flanking, and dealing damage in general this is the tank for you. | |

The Spähpanzer SP I C is a German tier 7 light tank.
The reconnaissance tank destroyer was being developed by Hotchkiss and Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz companies from 1956 through 1962 in order to increase the anti-tank capability of recon tank battalions. A 90-mm anti-tank gun was planned to be mounted on the new vehicle. The project was eventually declined. The number of prototypes built is unknown.
The SP 1. C is by far the worst scout at tier 7, but it is the best damage dealer out of all tier 7 scouts. Capable of unloading 720HP in 9 seconds, and having 180mm of pen.
The Spähpanzer SP I C leads to the HWK 12.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Excellent penetration and damage per shot.
- Small size, good camo rating and high view range aid in scouting.
- Decent gun depression
- Can use an autoloader
Cons:
- Slow top speed makes it hard to beat enemy Scouts to vision control locations.
- Armor is too thin for lucky bounces and is vulnerable to HE
- Light armor and weight make it extremely vulnerable to rams.
- Sluggish for a light, similar to the AMX 13 75.
- Unusually slow shell speed
Performance
Either the single shot or auto-loader 90mm Mecar are usable guns. Try both and see which one best fits your personal style.
Passive spot at first, if able. Half Court spotting is possible on maps such as Prokhorovka and Sand River but full-fledged Active spotting is a no-no. The SP 1. C is lackluster in mobility compared to all other tier 7 scouts, and while many see it and think, "Tier 7 German ELC", that is not how it plays at all. Full fledged scouting is the fastest way to get to the garage in this tank. While it can be a passive scout, it is best to only do this if there isn't any other scouts. It cannot compete with other lights at the same tiers in brawls, as the clip is too small and the regular Mecar gun doesn't reload fast enough. Too often the SP 1. C will get in a situation when scouting that it can't retreat from.
The SP 1. C was designed as a light TD meant to support recon units and it plays best as a light TD in game. After the initial spotting period is over, play as a light support tank as the battle progresses. Use your gun's good forward depression, small size, and good camo rating to your advantage. As a mini TD/flanker/ambusher you can deal 2k damage in no time at all, with proper positing. Much like the Leo 1 it is wise to get your gun in the game as soon as possible. The gun is the strongest point of this tank, as it can deal 720HP in damage in 9 seconds. Getting behind a heavy can really wreck his day. The reload on the autoloading Mecar is good to start out with, but unlike almost any other tank with an autoloader it can mount a rammer, which is very nice when in a tight situation.
Be alert for flanking opportunities, especially Flank-a-Boom attacks working in conjunction with team mates. Be extremely judicious when making Delayed Rushes or 1 on 1 attacks as you lack the mobility needed to escape bad situations. The gun is great, don't let it get taken out before you can deal any damage!
