Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Ridiculous 80/50/50 armor layout bounces nearly all tier III and some tier IV guns
- Premium MM keeps this tank out of tier V matches
- Gun depression and gun handling are outstanding
- Very fast magazine reload and decent burst damage results in good DPM, as long as it damages opponents
Cons:
- Low top speed combined with sluggish hull traverse, moves like heavy tank
- Extremely weak tier 1 gun; inaccurate, needs APCR to damage most tier 3s, yet still, its penetration is poor
- Loses its usability quickly in tier IV matches
- 25mm UFP is weak but ricochets any ~75mm gun due to heavy angle
- Huge tracks get knocked out frequently, leaving the weaker sides and rear vulnerable
Performance
Though many seem to see the Ausf. J as a fun-tank, it can become a deadly weapon in tier III matches. With a great armor of 80/50/50, it will be hard for your enemies to penetrate you. You won´t do much damage, but you can spot and take the damage for your teammates, while they, especially TD's and artillery can shoot safely from behind positions. Using APCR allows you to deal with enemies much more effectively, though it becomes expensive very quickly.
One good thing is to note that Pz. II Ausf. J literally can't damage another Pz. II Ausf. J, even with premium ammo! Two of these tanks engaging each other is very rare, but if such unfortunate situation happens, you better just focus on everything else, as he cant damage you. After you are alone against another Ausf. J...well all you can do is to either trying to go to cap the base, prevent opposing Ausf. J capping by shooting its tracks or just watch both of Ausf. Js hopelessly shooting each other's tracks and forcing draw!
