+ | ||||
+ | Survivability-wise, the armor is not very good anywhere on the hull apart from the upper plate, which is surprisingly decent for a hull-down oriented tank. However, the turret is one of, if not the best turret in the game. It has a base 350mm thickness, meaning HE is hardly effective against it except for large caliber (150mm+), but the effective armor is high enough that even the [[Jagdpanzer E 100]] with its infamous 420mm penetration HEAT shells cannot reliably penetrate it, as the one weakpoint on the Cheiftain's turret, the cupola, is rather small.

It is also somewhat small for a Heavy tank, closer to that of the bigger mediums such as the [[M48 Patton]] or [[E 50 M]].
+ | ||||
+ | However, it does have some weaknesses. If forced into trading shots, it can suffer due to the amount of tanks with 490 or higher alpha, and combined with its relatively low Health (2,200) it can be very deadly. If the T95/FV4201 Cheiftain is forced to fight on flat ground, it will suffer due to its lacking reliable hull armor. Its biggest flaw, though, may be its near overwhelming upsides and not enough downsides to make it balanced; in other words, it can be considered overpowered, or at least extremely strong. As a result, it is a priority target, and attracts a lot of attention from artillery in particular.
+ | ||||
+ | Overall, it is a very good vehicle in good hands, but it is far from invulnerable.

The T95/FV4201 Chieftain is a British tier 10 premium heavy tank.
Work on the new heavy tank started in the U.K. in 1951. It was planned to provide for the armament interchangeability of the FV4201 Chieftain and the American T95 tanks (including turrets). The project was discontinued because of issues with crew training, as the members of the vehicle crew would have had to operate two different artillery and gun control systems at once.
While this is not exactly what the WoT community asked for, this is the closest relatives to that of the much-requested FV4201 Cheiftain main battle tank that was implemented into the game. The T95/FV4201 Chieftain represents the characteristics of the Main Battle Tank (MBT) as its original counterparts (FV4201 Cheiftain and T95 medium tank) were designed for. It has a good mix of protection, damage output, and mobility, and can be used in multiple roles.
The T95/FV4201 Chieftain was added in update 1.3 as a Clan War reward tank.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Outstanding gun, arguably the best 120mm currently in the game
- Extremely well-armored turret and well angled upper glacis
- Very good top speed and acceleration for a heavy tank
- Great gun depression, can use most hull down positions
- Excellent viewrange at 410 metres base
Cons:
- Not counting the upper glacis, the hull is poorly armored
- While small, there is a thinly armored cupola weakspot on top of the turret
- Health pool is on the low side for a Tier 10 heavy tank
- Priority target for artillery and large caliber HE shells, especially when hulldown
- Worse DPM, accuracy, aim time and hull armor than techtree counterpart Super Conqueror
