Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Good alpha for its tier, combined with good DPM
- Decent gun depression (7 degrees)
- With proper angling, armor is capable of bouncing shots from tiers VII and below
- Excellent power/weight ratio with last engine; accelerates decent, climbs quite well
Cons:
- APCR has low penetration for the decent 165mm AP pen
- Horrible shell velocity, inadequate for sniping
- Awful accuracy with long aim time
- Not very agile
- Armor won't hold against anything above tier VII
Performance
This tank is in most respects similar to its predcessor. However, unlike P.43 bis, you get to see tier 9 enemies, and it hurts. A lot. This tank does get more HP and slightly more armor to compensate, but retains virtually the same gun as P.43 bis, which after upgrading only gets a penetration boost and nothing more. This tank cannot snipe due to atrocious shell velocity, long aim time and low accuracy - you need to be close to hit, and that means you will often be in immediate danger of recieving huge caliber shells from tier 8s and 9s. It is best to always aim for weakspots, which you can somewhat reliably hit at close range. When bottom tier, your best bet is to follow other heavies, use them as cover or play on flank and provide support. Flanking is hard without 3rd engine - this tank has quite bad mobility without it (and it becomes quite good with it). If your play style is flanking, you could consider getting the last engine before the last gun. When top-tier, if there aren't many heavies in the match, you can sometimes play as a pseudo-heavy. With good combination of alpha and DPM, this tank can be good for brawling light and medium tanks, just don't brawl with higher tiers as your lack of HP will most likely send you back to garage. Overall, when playing this tank, it is best to pick your targets carefully - play at close range or from the 2nd row, trade shots with soft enemies, always have support, flank when you have an opportunity, brawl with soft mediums and lights, and pray that you don't meet Chinese or German superheavies face-to-face. When played correctly, you can be very valuable to your team.
Early Research
- If you elited previous tank, you should already have 2nd engine and 2nd radio; mount them right away
- The 3rd engine provides *HUGE* boost to mobility, so it is a good idea to research it, even before the top gun because it only provides a penetration boost but the engine makes the tank much more playable
- Research tracks next, followed by turret and 2nd gun
- You can however, opt to shorten the grind, and skip the 3rd engine - you get it for free on P.44 Pantera

Historical Info
The armor was also planned to be further improved up to a 100mm thickness, which would have required a completely new suspension system. All of Italy's prior suspension systems had been based on the Vickers Mk. E/Vickers 6-ton design, which was now 15 years old and hitting the limits of what reinforcing or track widening could do to keep it from collapsing under new tank weights. If a replacement was designed by the time the Italian surrender ended the P.43 bis program, no records of it survive; however, it is possible that the Italians would have used a variant on the torsion bar suspension already designed for the now-cancelled M16/43 Celere Sahariano fast medium tank.
