Specifically, the mismatch in crew values caused by commander's 10% crew skill bonus. Outside of a crew of 1 commander only, 100% crew is a fiction. The client values, given for 100% crew, will normally be taken into battle with 110% crew skill members aside from specific functions, causing their actual performance to deviate from the expected client value. These differences are taken into account in tooltip boxes.

The O-I is a Japanese tier 6 heavy tank.

Development of the superheavy tank was started after the Battles of Khalkhyn Gol in 1939. The vehicle was designed as a maneuverable fire unit that was unprecedented in scale—its hull alone weighed 100 tons. Only one prototype was built, without a turret and made of construction steel. Trials were discontinued due to the unreliable engine; at the end of 1944, the prototype was scrapped. The 15 cm howitzer was to be mounted on the tank after its assembly.

The O-I leads to the O-Ni.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Massively powerful 150 MM howitzer; similar to KV-2's 152mm
  • Good overall armor, able to bounce shots if properly angled
  • Oddly well armored rear, making it usable for reverse side scraping.
  • Reasonably agile, considering the size, top speed is achievable.
  • Good gun depression, a pattern with lots of Japanese tanks

Cons:

  • Huge silhouette, easy to hit, and lots of flat spots on armor plates.
  • Slow reload, and horrid accuracy on the Howitzer, but should be expected.
  • Radio range is fairly short, with the comparable comparable medium (Chi-To) Having 750M range

Early Research

  • Research the Howitzer, its what makes this tank.
  • Research the radio(s), without it, you can't range in anything over the 300 metre mark. If you went up the Japanese mediums, this should be unlocked.
  • Then Tracks, every single degree per second helps.
  • Lastly the engine, it doesn't speed it up much, you *may* be able to skip this, but you will most likely want to continue playing this tank, so do so anyway.

Historical Info

O-I was the name given to a proposed series of Japanese super-heavy tanks, to be used in the Pacific Theater. The vehicle was very heavy, carrying 11 crew in its 100-120 ton body. Only one 120 ton O-I model was rumored to have been built in 1944 and afterward sent to Manchuria. Exact information is lacking however, and it is unknown whether it ever saw combat. Whereas the original plans called for three turrets for the one large cannon and two smaller guns, a more advanced experimental prototype, the Ultra-Heavy Tank OI featured no fewer than four turrets.
