?"A short-range sniper" is a good way to describe the TKS 20. Specifically, the mismatch in crew values caused by commander's 10% crew skill bonus. Outside of a crew of 1 commander only, 100% crew is a fiction. The client values, given for 100% crew, will normally be taken into battle with 110% crew skill members aside from specific functions, causing their actual performance to deviate from the expected client value. These differences are taken into account in tooltip boxes.

5

The TKS z n.k.m. 20 mm is a Polish tier 2 premium light tank.

Developed in 1933 as an upgraded version of the TK-3 tankette. In 1939, to increase fire power, 24 vehicles were re-equipped with the 20-mm automatic wz. 38 FK-A gun. These tankettes were in action during the fall of 1939.

The TKS z n.k.m. 20 mm is the Polish Tier II premium light tank (or "tankette" to be precise) that could be obtained during the Polish tech tree introduction event.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

- Good penetration

- n.k.m 20mm wz. 38 FK-A main gun has a 10-round autoloader

- Smallest tank in the game -- hard to hit from a distance -- and very good camouflage values to match

Cons:

- Off-centered gun to the right can make shooting around left corners difficult

- Only 400m gun range

- No dedicated Gunner, any gunner skills desired must be learned by the Commander

- Practically no armor

- Frontal transmission, engine gets damaged from the front

- Second-lightest tank in World of Tanks -- very vulnerable to ramming and getting stuck when driving into obstacles

- Not a "true" light tank, it doesn't get the usual full-camo-while-moving that most other lights do

Performance

"A short-range sniper" is a good way to describe the TKS 20. Its gun is accurate enough to hit with most or all of your 10-shell burst within its 400m limited range, even if you simply pull and hold the trigger to fire as quickly as possible -- its Firing Dispersion is only 1.3, which is excellent. Each firing cycle is two rounds; five cycles per clip.

And the TKS is stealthy enough to reposition with some confidence that the enemy won't spot you -- a full BIA and Concealment crew, along with a stealthy camo job, will push your Concealment values above 50% (32% on the move). It's a tiny little tank too, even smaller than the ELC Even 90 -- difficult to hit at anything but short ranges.

It needs that camo and small size to avoid enemy fire, since it's fragile with hardly any armor. Use ridge lines, buildings, and bush cover to stay out of sight and get into position, let 'em have it, and then make your escape to attack again. Play it like a sneaky tank destroyer, but it has the mobility (and with binocs the view range) to passive-scout in a pinch.

With only a Commander and Driver the TKS 20 can only serve as a perfect crew trainer for one Polish light, the Tier I 4TP.

Overall a fun little tankette; certainly worth a try if you just happen to already own one.

Early Research

The TKS 20 is a premium tank; there's nothing that needs researching.

Suggested Equipment

- Binocular Telescope is very important because of the bad view range (highly recommended)

- Camouflage Net is good for being extra sneaky in a sneaky tank

- Improved ventilation Class 1 for a little bit better statistics

Historical Info

The TK (TK-3) and TKS were Polish tankettes during the Second World War.

In 1939 up-arming of the tankettes with Nkm wz.38 FK 20mm (0.79 in) machine guns began, but only 24 of these were completed before the outbreak of World War II.

The handful of tankettes armed with 20mm guns were more effective against enemy tanks -- in one instance on 18 September 1939 a 20mm-gunned TKS commanded by Podchorazy (Officer Candidate SFC) Roman Orlik destroyed three German Panzerkampfwagen 35(t) tanks.
