Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Very strong armor profile, incredibly tough when sidescraping
- Powerful gun with high alpha damage and large caliber for overmatching
- Good top speed and power to weight ratio
- Decent gun handling
- Highly resistant to being rammed
Cons:
- Poor flexibility
- Bad gun accuracy, unsuited for sniping
- Very bad HEAT (premium) penetration
- Low DPM (but okay for the caliber of the gun and armour)
- Priority target for artillery and easily flanked, although side armor is well protected by spaced sections)
Performance
Similar although with wildly different turret configurations (the 705A having a much stronger turret), the 705A is the loose USSR version of the Maus, at least in concerns of hull armour. The object 705A features a very good mix of armour, armament, and mobility. Its armour layout can resist even the strongest guns in the game, however, in order to make its armour work its relatively weak lower frontal plate must be hidden or angled. Side-scraping in this tank will simply make it nearly immune by all types of ammo except HE. Be warned: the ammunition rack is largely located along the tank's center hull. Successful penetrations of its lower sides, especially by larger caliber shells, will likely detonate it. Its main gun, the 152mm M-51, has nice gun handling and penetration for its caliber, but long reload time and certainly low alpha when its compare against other 150mm guns. In the hands of a skilled player, and in the maps that allows it to use its play style, this tank will simply dominate the entire battle.
