|InTheGame_performance= If you can hit the enemy's rear or sides, you can hit hard. Otherwise, you generally hit about "200-300". This SPG is a vast improvement over the SU-5 because it has high ammo capacity and much better range. It has the fastest aim time of all the tier V counterparts, so with the GLD, it aim will be lightning fast, a significant advantage. With higher ammo capacity, you can expect more shots, though still try to make every shot count, and with better range, you don't have to keep up with your team, though it's still not enough for every map, but still it is a vast improvement. | |InTheGame_performance= If you can hit the enemy's rear or sides, you can hit hard. With this artillery, you can almost fire all the way across the map. Like most Soviet artillery, the SU-8 fires at a high arc, so it can hit tanks behind cover more effectively than its counterpart, the Hummel. It can also hide close in cover and be somewhat immune to counter-battery fire from low arcing shots. It is harder to hit moving targets with the SU-8 due to the significantly low shell velocity. The weapons available require more time to aim than those on earlier Soviet artillery. It does get the 152mm howitzer, which packs a punch that the earlier Soviet artillery lacked.
The <value_unset_error> marks the end of its line.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Good shell damage
- Good vehicle acceleration
- High ammo capacity
- Fastest aim time of all Tier 6 SPGs
- Slightly more reliable against the popular IS and IS-2 than other Tier 5 SPGs
Cons:
- Low accuracy
- Lower damage than its Tier 6 counterparts
- Low vehicle traverse speed
Performance
If you can hit the enemy's rear or sides, you can hit hard.
Early Research
- Equip the top radio from the SU-122A, but the gun is too heavy for the suspension. Upgrade the suspension, and then mount the gun.
- The top engine carries over from the BT-7, T-28, KV-2, and KV-1. Even with this, it is still the least mobile tier V SPG, so researched it last.

Historical Info
In the interwar period, which created a number of projects of self-propelled light works, the SU-8 project was conceived. The project was a heavy self-propelled gun on the chassis of a medium tank, the T-28. The original chassis was retained as well as the rear engine section. But all the mechanical parts were stripped out and completely changed. It mounted a 76.2 mm caliber cannon, which was protected by folding armored sides. When in position, the sides would be which allowed the cannon to rotate sideways.
Information regarding the prototype contain large uncertainties. Some sources claim the SU-8 was produced, while others claim the project remained only on paper. Design work on the project started in 1932 under the leadership of Professor F.L. Khlystov from the designer office of Artillery Academy of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army (RKKA). Most likely only one experimental version, built in 1935, existed as an upgrade to the SU-6 using a 400 hp engine. The reason for cancelling the project was because the T-28 was no longer being produced.
