?The VK 2801 has a unique gameplay and is very rewarding to play once mastered. The 10.5 cm KwK 42 L/28 has low accuracy and poor penetration, but is still capable of penetrating most SPGs and dealing 410 damage. Gold ammunition makes this howitzer quite effective against the sides and rear of heavy tanks, dealing substantially more damage than the heavy driver would expect. Its top speed coupled with its high view range make it the best overal spotter of the 3 since it can cover more square meters per second. Learning the VK 2801 though takes time because a flaw or fault will almost always result in your certain death. One error and you will notice that its acceleration will put you in a nasty situation. So make sure keep moving and try performing drive by shots instead of the classic circle of death technique. The VK 2801's worst enemies are the Type 59, AMX 13 90, and the T-50-2 in close quarters. It is a fast tank with a decent turn rate and works well in pairs against slower mediums and other lightly armored vehicles and is good at defending artillery from other attacking scouts. It can also be used as a decent scout.+

?In 1943, Germany planned to stop the production of the Panzerkampfwagen IV no later than the fall of 1944, and since it served as the base for numerous conversions, a replacement was planned. In June 1943, Guderian envisioned a new vehicle - Mehrzweckpanzer (multipurpose tank)- to be used as a reconnaissance tank, artillery observation tank, anti-aircraft tank, light tank destroyer, and light self-propelled carriage as well as other specialized vehicles. The new vehicle was to be designed by Krupp and was designated the VK 2801. Plans were made to start production of this 28 ton vehicle in April of 1945, but in October of 1943, the entire project was cancelled and production of the Panzerkampfwagen IV continued. In June of 1943, Krupp proposed the Mehrzweckpanzer mit Vierling 2cm VK 2801 anti-aircraft tank armed with quad 20mm Flak guns, but it also remained only a project and no prototype was ever constructed. +
