Specifically, the mismatch in crew values caused by commander's 10% crew skill bonus. Outside of a crew of 1 commander only, 100% crew is a fiction. The client values, given for 100% crew, will normally be taken into battle with 110% crew skill members aside from specific functions, causing their actual performance to deviate from the expected client value. These differences are taken into account in tooltip boxes.

The <value_unset_error> is a [[|]] tier .

<value_unset_error>

It has a thicker frontal armor than its brother, the E-75. It carries the same gun ordnance, but the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B has a slightly better gun reload and handling accuracy (but worse gun depression) thanks to its turret stats. The transmission is located in the middle, which prevents fires from frontal hits, but there is a driver port (albeit small) on the front, and thinner sides. Thus, angling the tank is an absolute must in order to survive.

When first acquired, it comes with an insufficient gun, and will only begin to show its powerhouse when equipped with the L/68 105mm Gun, and will change the balance of battles once equipped with the powerful 128mm L/55 gun

Due to the rear-mounted turret, this tank may seem harder to play and more unwieldy than the previous VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A. It's certainly slower than a fully upgraded E-75, mostly due an overwhelmed 875 hp engine, but give it time and get used to its unique playing style and you could easily find yourself playing a part in tipping the battle in your team's favor.

Pros and Cons

Pros:


  • Respectable front armor
  • Ability to pivot in place
  • Better gun handling than the E-75
  • Best sidescraping ability 2nd only to the Maus
  • Harder to ignite transmission


Cons:


  • Large profile makes an easy target for artillery
  • Weak side armor
  • Lacks mobility
  • Very weak stock gun that must be used before obtaining the top gun.
  • Rear-mounted turret


Performance

Initially, the Ausf B. is slow and clumsy. Its rear-mounted turret makes it so you have to fully reveal yourself from cover to fire if you adopt traditional tactics. Instead, angle your front to protect it behind cover while exposing your side at an acute angle. Once upgraded, it makes up for some of its more awkward grievances. The armor is nicely sloped, allowing it to bounce a high percentage of shells. However, its frontal armor has the driver view port as weakness, but only very accurate shots may hit it. Unlike its competitor the E-75, the 4502P does not use a front mounted transmission and is thus much less prone to engine fires when hit in the lower front glacis, but its engine is located in the front so you instead will get engine damage.

In some cases, the learning curve can become fairly expensive and you may suffer heavy financial hits until you've grown (or groaned) accustomed to this heavy tank. Don't give up. It's well worth the pain. If mastered, the Ausf B. can be a rewarding tank to play and is great preparation for the playing style of the Maus.

This is one of the most well-adapted tanks for the "Sidescrape" position due to the rear mounted turret. This is especially good since the rear-mounted turret makes it less suitable for "peek and shoot" city tactics.


Early Research

  • You should have researched the engines, gun and radio from the previous VK, so equip them first
  • The stock turret is strong enough to hold up on its own,so its important to upgrade the guns as it will give you the ability to hit targets reliably, should you have not researched the 105mm L/68 from the Tiger 2, your first priority is to acquire that gun.
  • Research the suspension, or use a suspension module
  • Research and equip the Turret
  • Get the 128mm Gun
  • Go from there

Two prototypes of this vehicle (one with the forward-mounted turret and the other with the rear-mounted turret) were designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, but it never entered production.

This tank, named the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B in the game, is based on the prototype with the rear-mounted turret. The forward-mounted turret is represented by the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A.
