Directions

Most of the directions look good Jiri. I only had some confusion with the Sources part. Also, on the last line, "anything" is one word. I'd just fix it, but I don't have access.

Regarding the Sources part:

  • |Sources= Panel for references, sources and external links. We don't have a reflist template so place any references manually with [#] in the text then please use # and a new line for each reference in the References section. If not referenced in the prior section use Sources and External Links to cite where you found the info used. Book and other offline resources use the sources part. Online resources use the external links part. Please use * and a new line for each. If left blank after the = will place {{append}}

I recommend changing the second sentence to "We don't have a reference list template, so place any references manually. Please add a # before each reference, followed by a new line for each reference in the References section."

Now the part I was confused about:

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th sentences: "If not referenced in the prior section, use Sources and External Links to cite where you found the info used. Book and other offline resources use the sources part. Online resources use the external links part." I found this a little confusing. The 4th and 5th sentences are clear, but not the 3rd. Reading that part for the first time, I wasn't sure what should or shouldn't go in the Reference section. After reading it a couple of times, I decided that perhaps the 3rd sentence should actually come after the 5th sentence, resulting in "anything that's not an external source or an external link goes in the Reference section." If this is correct, then I suggest renaming the "Sources" section to the "External Sources" section, as well moving the 3rd sentence to come after the 5th. Perhaps also change "References" to "Other References" and list it last. If I got your meaning wrong, then I have no idea what goes in the References section.

Ya sources need work. Trying to decide, and not in a rush mind you, what we need to be doing about citations. For now the format I was following was what is in use on the M4's page. Tons of references in the body of the text, flagged with [#], then a list of all them, in a short form, below in the References. In Sources a further full length bibliography style entry of all the publications that were mentioned in References (though the M4 is missing some). And if any of the references in References were online, those go in the External Links section. Failing a good set of references marked out with [#] just use the Sources and External Links sections.
Updated the usage instructions. --Jiri Starrider 04:40, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

l2template

If you bastardize the template like that it cannot detect whether there is content in sources= because you place your headlines there by default. There's a reason I had locked this template down and stated it was just for structuring the page, not layout. Just saying... --Snib 10:05, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

References Template

Looks like we need it to only mention it in {{append}} if all three (References, Sources, and Links) are empty. If you look at the KV-1, for example, it has a link listed, but References and Sources still get listed as missing. --Trifler 01:51, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
