What the hell does it take to create mainspace pages here? -Auron 07:03, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

You're certainly taking the wrong approach. :) --Snib 09:11, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm a fantastic editor and sysop on several much larger wikis than this one - I tried to create some badly needed redirects and found I was unable to. Looking around, I found nothing that told me what usergroups could edit mainspace pages, so I asked on the most convenient place. How is this the wrong approach? -Auron 12:40, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
The page you are looking for is found here Special:SpecialPages with the user rights found there being listed here Special:ListGroupRights. Between history and the search box on the upper right'ish area is a pull down. Move is an option there and it will autocreate a redirect. Or you can just manually insert one with #REDIRECT [["pagename"]]. Out of curiosity, what needed redirects? Thanks, Lead Wiki Editor --Jiri Starrider 07:10, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Apart from the obvious nonsense you are talking now I was referring to your out of place choice of language. --Snib 08:25, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
@Jiri: Erm... kind of. I'm talking about creating brand new main space pages that are redirects, not moving existing pages to create redirects behind them. I am talking about the #redirect [[blah]] kind, but I cannot create new pages without additional permissions, so I am unable to place redirects. Glancing over the usergroup summaries and their corresponding pages, I find nothing describing how to become able to create mainspace pages. Do I just ask for it? (In which case, can I get flagged with whatever usergroup is able to create pages?)
Pretty much every tank with a nickname needs a redirect from it - Hellcat, Patton, Bison, Marder, etc. Furthermore, many tanks also have in-game nicknames, such as pz4, JT (jagdtiger), etc. A few are also commonly referred to by their number designations; 12t, 13 75, 2801, 3601h etc. All those should be redirect pages to the corresponding tanks. Couple guns also have nicknames, like "long 88" on tiger, and redirects for those wouldn't hurt. MediaWiki search function is notoriously bad, and leaving anything up to it is usually a recipe for disaster; redirecting as many common search terms as possible streamlines the process and makes it much faster for people to find what they want.
While we're on the topic of creating pages, can you make one for the tank crew dialog? I posted on Talk:Battle Mechanics and got no response, which I always take as a "yes" (be bold, etc) and wouldn't mind being able to move the dialog over to make the page less cumbersome with offtopic information.
