El vehículo fue concebido como carro de ruptura. El proyecto del diseño evolucionó del proyecto del AT-7, y ambos proyectos fueron entregados al mismo tiempo. No se construyeron prototipos porque se prefirió al A39 Tortoise.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

• Good gun with high RoF, aimtime, and accuracy

Cons:

• Large hatch weakpoint

Performance

The AT-8 is almost the same as the AT-2 before it, but some complications. The same 203 mm of armor is there, but you have both the famously large hatch and the machine gun mantlet to try to hide. Also, you get to meet tier 8s. With average pen of 210 or more. With the BL-10. The AT-8 doesn't exactly get a speed boost, either. with 20 kilometers per hour max speed, the AT-8 is just as vulnerable to fast vehicles as the AT-2. Finally, the gun isn't impressive. It has decent pen and usable alpha, but it isn't exactly the beast.
