Gnevny — Soviet Tier VI destroyer.

Player Opinion
Performance
If you played this far into the line without using free XP, you should be very familiar with the tactics on this ship. Maintain a good distance from your enemies and use your guns. Avoid getting into knife fights with equal or higher tier USN dds, their rate of fire is more than yours at this tier and some hull modules give them more guns / RoF. If an American destroyer is picking a fight with you, hit the speed boost and try to keep him at a range of about 7 to 10 km. Your guns can still hit him at that range while the "rainbow arcs" on his shells will make it difficult for him to hit you. Dealing with any IJN dds (if you can find them) should not be a problem - their guns are worse than yours at any range, just watch out for their torpedos. As for your own torpedoes, you should only use them in ambushes around islands. If you do manage to get close enough to use them though, they will be quite difficult to evade since they are very fast.
The Gnevny is similar but at the same time significantly inferior to premium Gremyaschy in many aspects.
Gremyaschy has better:
- Fire chance (9% vs 8%)
- Camouflage fire penalty (3.9km vs 5.9km), which allows it to invisifire without Advanced Firing Training, unlike Gnevny.
- Torpedo range (8km vs 4km), which allows Gremy to invisitorp, unlike Gnevny.
- Rudder shift time (2.7 vs 4.4)
- Turn radius (510 vs 610)
Gnevny only has better speed (38kn vs 37kn), more health (+1000), faster turning turrets (30s vs 36s), and faster torpedoes (70kn vs 55kn)
The rest is the same: the excellent range, shell arc, and shell speed.Pros:
- Excellent gun range and ballistics.
- Decent chance of fire (8%).
- Lower base detect than its predecessor and stealthier than its Tier VI USN counterpart.
Cons:
- Abysmal turret traverse (just like on the Grem and Anshan)---cannot keep guns on target during hard maneuvers even with Expert Marksman
- Very short torpedo range.
- Detection bloom after firing is larger than its upgraded gun range.
- Although the Gnevny is relatively fast, it is much slower than its predecessor, the Podvoisky.
Research
- Quickly research either the (B) Hull for better rudder shift and increased health pool or research the Gun Fire Control System VI mod. 2 for better range, then research the other.
- Upgraded torpedoes are optional if the player is low on credits, as it provides only +5 kts to torpedo speed despite being already very fast for short ranged torpedoes and are unnecessary to research for researching and unlocking Minsk.

Consumables
As a Tier VI VMF destroyer, Gnevny has access to the following standard destroyer consumables:
It is recommended to mount premium Engine Boost II consumable to better effectively utilize Gnevny's speed, as it has a decent base speed of 38 kts.
Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 2 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.
Players who wish to spend doubloons can equip Gnevny with the pay-per-battle premium Type 6 camouflage, which provides a huge XP bonus per battle.
