 This is the most common play mode, 15 vs 15. Currently only SPG's have any kind of special reservation to be roughly equal between the teams, other tanks can end up with all of one type on one side. Non SPG's have equal chance, based on other tanks in the queue, of being at the top of the list or the bottom, with a special exception for the tier 4 light tanks. They can be in battle with tanks of a much higher tier, in those battles they are expected to act as scouts. Be aware and expect that all players are not equal in terms of skill and equipment, the top tank may be a liability and the bottom tank may end up winning the match for the team. ?In this mode, you create your own team/company by inviting friends or by random players joining your company. After setting-up the team, you will randomly fight other tank companies. You will earn experience points and credits the same as in Random/Standard battles. Using a point system, you have a maximum of 90 points to "spend" building your company based on tank tier number (ie: a tier-10 tank spends 10 points), and will need a minimum of 60 points to start the company battle. The Global Map is Clan Wars theater of operations, divided into provinces currently limited to Europe, The Middle East and Northern Africa. The gameplay of this mode is based on the strategic struggle for Global Map provinces between clans. In this gamemode armored forces of different clans are represented by chips. The number of a clan’s chips is equal to the number of players in the clan that have played at least one battle in any vehicle of Tier V or higher. Such players provide one chip to the clan no matter how many vehicles of Tier V and up they have played. Every clan possesses one headquarters. Headquarters can be relocated from one province to another and is used to dispatch clan’s chips from reserve to Global Map. Commanders and Deputy Commanders manage chips distribution on Global Map. Other clan members can observe the location and movement of their clan’s forces and headquarters. Once a battle is placed, fifteen minutes before the battle starts, the normally grayed out special battles at the top of the screen will become active, from there you wait in a lobby that is similar to the company battle's lobby until the battle starts. Currently, there are 4 battle types active and several more in development. You can choose different battle modes by opening the pull-down menu below the red "Battle!" button. Please note that "Special Battle" is not available until 15 minutes before specific events, such as the begining of a Clan Battle.

Current gamemodes

Random/Standard Battle

Newcomers Battle

Newcomer Battles are limited to tier 1 tanks to assist them in the steep learning curve associated with WoT. Newcomers are classified as players who have participated in fewer than 10 total battles. These players will only be matched against other Tier 1 tanks.

Platoons

Any player may form a platoon of up to 2 players. Players with a Premium Account can create a platoon consisting of 3 people. Being part of a platoon allows those players to be placed on the same team when the platoon is placed in a battle. Platoons are identified by a shield with a number icon on the team-list.

Counting In

Groups of players using an external voice communications program, Teamspeak, Mumble or the like, can attempt to get in together on the same battle by all hitting battle at the same time. It takes a good sense of timing and familiarity with the matchmaking chart to be successful. You will note this usage in battle when you see 3 or 4 platoons from the same clan in the same match. The individuals and platoons joining battle in this manner have an equal chance of being on the same team or the opposing team.

Training Battles


In this mode, you can make your own room and select the map you wish to play. Then, decide if you want the game to be open to the public, or use the "invite" feature to play only with friends. After the player has responded and joined, drag their name to the appropriate team and start your Battle. Many players use this mode for experiments with various tank mechanics, learning new maps, strategic planning and movement, and the teaching of those new to the game in 1 vs 1 matches. You will not gain any experience points or credits in this mode and your vehicle repairs are free, but you will still need to pay for expended shells and equipment (consumables used).

Tank Companies Battle


In this battle version, players with a Premium Account can form their own team by inviting friends or allowing random players to join their company. Team rosters are built using a point system. Encounter battle

Two teams are to capture the base in the middle of the map.<br\>

Status: in development, planned for "shortly after 7.0"

Assault

One team attacks, the other one is to defend the base.<br\>

Garage battle

Teams of 5, with respawns from other tanks in your garage. Prior to battle you select up to 5 of your tanks, when you die in battle you respawn in the next tank on your list.<br\>

Status: in development and gameplay testing, planned for release this year.

Historical battle

Faction-based battles with restrictions on vehicles and modules available.<br\>

Status: in development and gameplay testing, planned for release this year.

Escort VIP

Only a few tanks from the team have the ability to capture enemy's base, the opposite team is to destroy invaders.<br\>

Status: in development and gameplay testing, planned for release this year.

Company battle divisions

Tier 10 max, no overall tier limitation (current mode) and tier 8, 6, 4 max, with the respective overall tier and point limitations. Similar to the tournament limitations.<br\>

Superplatoons

For 5 players as intermediate chain between platoons and companies.<br\>

Status: in development.

Clan Wars Release

Roaming feature (allowing players to join other servers), that should be the first step to allow global map merge (Where NA, EU, and RU clans would compete together).<br\>

Status: in development, planned for Q4 2011. Note, that is for Roaming, not end of Clan Wars Beta.
