The museum ship USS Texas (BB-35), built in 1915, is in the foreground. She is the last of the "dreadnought" type of battleships built during that period.
Across the field is the San Jacinto Monument, marking the site of the battle where the residents of Texas won their independence from the government of Mexico in 1836.
In the far background, to the right of the monument, one can see the towers of the Fred Hartman Bridge, which is over 5 miles away.
Taken with a Nikon D300 and a 17-35 mm f/2.8 lens from a ship passing in the Houston Ship Channel.
