Numidia, northern Africa. The Battle of Cirta took place during the Second Punic War and was the lead up to the famous Battle of Zama. The battle was fought between the forces of the Roman Republic under Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus versus Carthage's main ally, Syphax, and took place initially in the open just outside of the town and pushed into the rock formations by the town itself. Roman victory here secured Scipio's foothold in North Africa, ready to prepare for Hannibal's forced return from Italy.

  • The deserts of Numidia can prove treacherous to navigate safely. The central path is fairly open, offering a clear and direct route towards the enemy position, but without support from the flanking paths either side of the arch you will find it difficult to push further onward.
  • Take control of the rocky high ground to support your team’s central position and flank the enemy’s.
  • Maintaining visibility amongst the rocky terrain can be difficult, and with no Watchtowers on the map careful positioning can be key to survival.
  • For respite from the hot desert sands, take a refreshing paddle through the Oasis waters. But watch out for cavalry splashing through!
