The immediate issue I see is the use of the term "carpet bomber". It is incorrect. The only 'carpet bombers' were high-altitude strategic heavy bombers that couldn't pinpoint a target for shit so used huge formations to "carpet" an area in the hopes of hitting the real target. Naval level bombers flew in much smaller formations (of necessity) and at much lower altitudes and trusted to aiming. They were rarely successful, Arizona being a notable exception.
