?The Kuma is basically an improved Tenryu sporting a couple more guns. Sharing both the rapid fire guns as well as the glaring weaknesses of its predecessor, you will find that she's a more souped up version of her predecessor in terms of surface combat but do not rely on her AA suite to be an effective screen as it is quite subpar for its tier. The Kuma is fast, sleek, and throws a lot of damage with rapid fire guns, and her powerful torpedoes and 34.7 km speed make it deadly to almost anything it encounters.+

?The Kuma is a fun ship to play, the high rate of fire makes it compare very well in performance to all ships it may face in battle. For those with the extra Port slots the Kuma could well be a "keeper". Compared to its US Tier IV cruiser counterpart, the Kuma stacks up well performance wise. One of the best features of the Kuma is that with the "B" hull upgrade it gets an on-board fighter which can be launched for added AA protection. The fighter cannot be controlled, it just follows the ship and automatically attacks incoming air threats.+

?The Kuma's glaring weaknesses are exemplified by her rudder and torpedo tubes, as even minor hits from destroyers can easily take them out, rendering her unable to steer or launch her powerful torpedoes. Unfortunately, this presents a major problem when attempting a torpedo run; as the torpedo tubes are located on the sides of the Kuma, all the opponent has to do is to hit the torpedo tubes, then attempt to disable your rudder with a second salvo. As such, it is imperative to spend as little time exposing her sides and rear to the opponent as possible.+
