New Seychelles Map

Summer isn’t far off, and it feels only natural to move our naval battles to warm and exotic waters. The new Seychelles map serves as the perfect location!

The map's landscape is similar to the northeastern part of the Seychelles, and it includes the large islands of Praslin and La Digue, as well as many small islands adjacent to them. The map features mountainous islands covered with tropical green forests.

The Seychelles map is designed for Random and Co-op Battles with Tier V–IX ships. It’s intended for two types of Domination mode battles, both with four Key Areas.

We'll provide you with more details about the new map in a dedicated article.

Building Daisen at the Dockyard

The Kure Dockyard is back in the game, and its slipways are about to see a flurry of activity in the name of building battleship IX Daisen.

The ship is armed with eight 410 mm main battery guns housed in four turrets. Her guns have good accuracy and a rather short reload time for a battleship. IX Daisen is also equipped with four quadruple-tube torpedo launchers, and her long-range torpedoes can inflict significant damage.

The battleship is very fast for her type, but she has a large turning circle radius and rather small HP pool. She has access to Repair Party in a separate slot, and she can also choose between Fighter and Spotting Aircraft with a significantly increased action time.

The Port of Kure has been updated to mark the event.

  • The construction process comprises 34 phases, 29 of which can be unlocked by completing combat mission groups.
  • You can also complete shipbuilding phases by spending Doubloons 1,500 Doubloons for each phase or by purchasing Starter Packs: 11 shipbuilding phases in exchange for Doubloons 10,000 Doubloons or 5 shipbuilding phases in exchange for Doubloons 5,500 Doubloons. Another three shipbuilding phases can be obtained as the final reward of the Premium Battle Pass in Update 12.3.
  • The combat missions span Update 12.3 and the first 2 weeks of Update 12.4. The Dockyard itself will remain in your Ports until the start of Update 12.5.
  • The reward for completing the construction includes battleship IX Daisen in her War Paint camouflage and a Commander with 10 skill points, as well as a A place in your port to park your ship. Port slot and commemorative flag.

All details about the new Dockyard will follow in a separate article.

British Submarines Going Live

When Update 12.3 hits the servers, British submarines will become available for all players to research.

This nation’s submarines are only armed with acoustic homing torpedoes that are quite quick to reload for a full salvo and have a decent range and speed. They can launch massive salvos, but the individual torpedoes don’t inflict particularly high damage. British submarines enjoy a high dive capacity, but it recharges rather slowly. They also have small HP pools.

The submarines are equipped with Damage Control Party with a limited number of charges; Submarine Surveillance; and Hydrophone with a short cooldown and short interval between pings but a limited number of charges and a rather short ship-bearing range.

More details on how to play the new submarines will be shared later in a dedicated article.

Early Access to Pan-American Cruisers

Early Access to Pan-American cruisers is ongoing in Update 12.3.

For 2 weeks following the update’s release, you'll still have the option to complete combat mission groups and obtain Pan-American Tokens, economic bonuses, and the Pan-American Cruisers commemorative flag.

Throughout Update 12.3, a special chain of combat missions will be available for those who possess researchable Pan-American cruisers. The rewards for completing the chain include bonus packages for Tier VI–X ships, Coal Coal, and the Inca Treasure permanent camouflage for X San Martín.

The Armory section dedicated to the event will also be available until the release of Update 12.4. There, you’ll be able to exchange Pan-American Tokens for sequential bundles that hold Pan-American cruisers, and the following permanent camouflages: "Mayan Mystery" for VIII Ignacio Allende and "Muisca Gold" for IX Santander. You’ll also be able to exchange your Pan-American Tokens for V Rio de Janeiro, VI Juruá, Distant Voyages containers, and bundles that hold valuable in-game items. You can obtain additional Pan-American Tokens from random bundles available in exchange for Doubloons, as well as from bundles available in exchange for Free XP. The bundles for Free XP can also drop a bonus package for V La Argentina!

The cruisers are armed with 152 mm guns that fire AP shells with improved ricochet angles, and those guns boast a nice reload time. The new ships also carry torpedo launchers. Starting from Tier VI, the new cruisers have access to Combat Instructions — activating these significantly reduces the ships’ consumable cooldown time. To fill the Combat Instructions progress bar, you need to continuously hit a target with your main battery guns. The ships have weak armor but good concealment.

The newcomers have a wide array of consumables at their disposal. Starting from Tier II, they have access to Repair Party; from Tier VI, they have access to Specialized Repair Teams, which restores a considerable portion of any damage received; from Tier IV, Hydroacoustic Search is introduced, joined by Defensive AA Fire from Tier VII as an alternative in the same slot; and from Tier VIII, you can choose between Surveillance Radar and Spotting Aircraft in the same slot. Tier V–VI cruisers are also equipped with a Catapult Fighter. The standard cooldown time for all consumables is 3 minutes (except for Damage Control Party and Spotting Aircraft).

Battle Pass

Following tradition, Update 12.3 delivers a fresh Battle Pass (BP). Earn BP Points for completing daily and weekly combat missions, advance through the BP progress bar, and earn rewards.

The final reward of the Battle Pass includes King of the Sea and Rare Bonuses containers. The Premium Battle Pass will bring you even more valuable in-game items, and its final reward is three construction phases at the Dockyard.

More details about the Battle Pass in Update 12.3 is available in a dedicated article.

Allied Heroes Collection

The fresh update introduces our new Allied Heroes collection dedicated to the end of World War II in Europe. The collection consists of six pages, with two elements on each page. The reward for completing each page is a 10-skill-point Commander of one of the Allied nations, and the reward for completing the entire collection is 3 days of Warships Premium Account. You can exchange duplicates at the rate of 1:1.

You can obtain the collection elements from our new Allied Heroes containers that you’ll find in the Armory in exchange for Credits and Free XP.

Inca Trail Adventure

Starts: Fri. May 12 5:00 AM Central
Ends: Fri. May 26 5:00 AM Central

This adventure will see you follow a pair of Dutch sailors who have decided to use their preciously short vacation to get to know the Peruvian culture and collect various souvenirs.

As rewards for completing the event's combat missions, you’ll receive Inca Tokens, the Inca Trail commemorative flag, and more useful items. During the adventure, you may also receive the "Rotterdam" and "Tumi" themed patches. Inca Tokens are a new temporary resource that you can exchange for random bundles that can drop VIII Almirante Grau with a 10-skill-point Commander and a commemorative flag, the Ancient Totem permanent camouflage for Almirante Grau, and other rewards. It's possible to obtain additional Tokens from the Armory in exchange for Doubloons.

VIII Almirante Grau was the flagship of the Peruvian Navy. She was acquired from the Netherlands and named after Admiral Miguel Grau Seminario. The ship is armed with eight 152 mm main guns housed in four turrets that can rotate 360 degrees.

The main feature of the ship is access to Combat Instructions. The progress bar fills up while the cruiser remains undetected, and activating the Combat Instructions significantly reduces the main battery reload time. The ship features low detectability and efficient AA defenses but has weak armor and a small HP pool. The consumables at her disposal include Hydroacoustic Search and Defensive AA Fire.

VIII Almirante Grau can be obtained from random bundles in exchange for Inca Tokens and from the Premium Shop.

Full details of the adventure will be released in a dedicated article.

New Combat Mission Type

Update 12.3 welcomes a new type of combat missions code-named "Naval Superiority." These missions will be allocated to players who take part in special activities on our website. Such missions will count toward a player's progress in these activities. Unlike standard missions, these missions don't have any fixed criteria that must be achieved to complete them. The only limit that exists is time. Once the deadline arrives, the results of all participating players are summed up.

For example, to receive a reward for participating in a website activity, the participant might need to rank among the top 50 players by damage caused throughout the activity’s duration. The mission will show how much damage a player has dealt at the current moment. After the mission expires, the results will be summed up, and the best players will receive the corresponding rewards. In the mission description, you'll also be able to find a link to our website with details about the corresponding activity.

Stay tuned for more news on our website so you won’t miss our special activities!

Technical Updates

Grounding

We're working on the issue of ships getting stuck near islands. In Update 12.3, we're going to add "sliding" mechanics for ships that make contact with land or shallow water. These will allow the ships to continue moving freely without "running aground." In future updates, we're going to change the island collision models on maps so that they fully match the contours of the islands in the game.

Sound Effects

We've updated the following sound effects:

  • Launching of torpedoes by surface ships. Every launched torpedo will now produce a separate sound effect.
  • Dropping of ammunition by all squadrons and the operation of attack aircraft machine guns.
  • Main battery shells flying above a ship.
  • The "hissing" sound of bombs dropped by bombers and the sound of skip bomber-launched bombs as they bounce off the water’s surface.
  • Ships colliding with islands and other ships. The intensity of the sound will depend on the speed of your ship.

Burst Fire mode

We've updated the descriptions, icons, and pop-up hints for the Burst Fire mode. They now more closely match the bonuses of the alternative fire mode and describe in more detail how this mechanic works for different ships. We've added the ability to switch the fire mode in the Port.

Main battery shell icons have also been updated.

Return of Hololive Production

Update 12.3 brings back the heroes of hololive production. Popular Japanese VTubers are ready to fill the ranks of Commanders and plunge into the heat of naval battles back-to-back with players! Welcome four new Commanders, each with an individual voiceover — Shishiro Botan, Moona Hoshinova, Watson Amelia, and Takanashi Kiara. During the event, you’ll also be able to obtain a special expendable camouflage and commemorative flag.[1]

The details of the event can be seen here and here.

Warhammer 40,000

World of Warships is setting the stage to welcome back space fleets from the distant future! The Imperial Navy and space forces of the Black Templars will face the ferocious forces of Chaos and vehement space corsairs — the Orks. The characters of the Warhammer 40,000 universe are returning in Update 12.3. Whose side will you take? You can expect the return of familiar ships — Ship Smasha, Cross of Dorn, Ignis Purgatio, and Ragnarok — as well as their Commanders, expendable camouflages, and other themed content.

We've also updated the contents of the Warhammer 40,000 Premium container! Each Warhammer 40,000 Premium container can now drop 14 rare economic bonuses of each type; the drop rate of each type is 14%. The drop rates of the themed expendable camouflages within the container have been reduced accordingly.[2]

More details will be available in a dedicated article on our website.
