Somua S35

Jump to: navigation, search

I'm not sure where to post this, but since I'm using this page as an example I'll put it here for now.

The changing of tank page names to things like "Tank:Hotchkiss_H35" are messing up the little tree that shows the tank before and the tank after that's displayed just below the sidebar. For example on the S35's page, it says "Tank:Hotchkiss_H35", then "Somua S35" below that, and then "Tank:F70_SARL42". It should be displaying "Hotchkiss H35" and "SARL 42", accordingly. It's also messing up links as the redirects aren't automatically redirecting. I think it works better and makes more sense to users using the tank's name as the page name. --Trifler:na (talk) 02:05, 23 May 2015 (UTC)

That's a bug in the sidebar, I'll forward this to the higher ups. As for links that aren't redirecting automatically, the only way to fix them is to manually create redirect pages for each of them. It's a terribly inefficient system, but it's somewhat simpler than maintaining all the links to keep them updated and pointing at the right pages.
Using the tanks' display names for page in place of their game code isn't viable anymore since the pages are now automatically reserved by the game databases. Custom vehicle pages will still work if you manually specify the vehicle name, but to maintain and update them is a labor we don't really have time or manpower for. The compromise is to use redirect pages to point links to the right places. --Haswell:na (talk) 03:09, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
I see. Well, in that case I guess it is what it is. Kind of a shame. I noticed that one the redirect pages that don't redirect, it says "redirect=no" in the address bar. Is there a way I can manually change this to "redirect=yes" when I see one? --Trifler:na (talk) 23:15, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
