Maestrale continues the defining characteristics of Italian destroyers — Semi-Armor Piercing (SAP) main battery shells with an unusually short main battery gun range, full-speed smokescreen, but poor concealment and agility. While most destroyers tend to focus on torpedo power, gunboating larger ships, or a hybrid of the two, Maestrale is a destroyer assassin. She excels at ambushing (or charging down) enemy destroyers, killing or crippling them before fading back into the shadows.

Armament

Maestrale armament presents some interesting surprises for players familiar with other destroyer lines, but offer few differences compared to her Italian predecessors. Like IV Turbine, she carries four 120mm guns in two twin mounts, with a fast traverse and average reload. Although she only has two turrets, they have excellent firing angles. She can use all four guns while still presenting a smaller target for return fire. Her HE shells have a decent fire chance compared to other Tier V destroyers but her per-shell damage is lower at 1750, barely higher than Turbine’s.
