Other Ships with Torpedoes
Will you also be including other torpedoes from other ships such as Cruisers, Carriers and upcoming German Battleships?--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 22:47, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

You'll have to talk with the person actually doing stuff on ships. Like I said I know nothing about them. --Haswell:na (talk) 17:36, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Can we add the Russian destroyers now, please? --greengem:na (talk) 04:21, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

UPDATE

please update this page it is very out of date.

Possibly add2 more columns, reaction time with Acquisition Skills and reaction time with Acquisition Mod; I guess A 3rd if ship has both

Incorrect formula and more

The formula for reaction time is incorrect, the result needs to be multiplied by 1000 to actually get a proper value in seconds, the formula should be adjusted to reflect this as in its current state it is mathematically incorrect.

Further, while it is correct that this value is only true if you're standing perfectly still in the water (something most of us hopefully never do in an actual battle), it'll probably misguide people on how much time they actually have to dodge a torpedo when it's spotted.

The reason for this is that it can be hard to understand what counts as sailing towards a torpedo, sailing full speed and meeting the torpedo head-on is definitely true, but so is sailing in a straight line and meeting the torpedo side-on, unless you're sailing away from the torpedo's point of origin you're guaranteed to see reduced reaction times. Simply because when a DD (or other ship with tubes) launches a torpedo it is launched on an intercept course ahead of you, by sailing broadside you're effectively sailing straight into the torpedo even if it's coming towards your broadside.

So how much sooner can you expect those mean torpedoes to actually hit you? Depends on your ship speed and can be roughly calculated by adding your top speed to the torpedo's speed and calculating accordingly. Suddenly those estimated 9.5s Fubuki torpedoes are less than 6s away, barely enough to even consider turning your rudder and hitting the brakes. And those crappy Type93 torpedoes with 15.5s reaction time? Maybe less than 10s away.

Take it slow and never sail in a straight line for more than a reload's worth of time if you're spotted.
