Commander Skills Update

With the release of Update 12.10, we’ve made much-needed changes to some unpopular and under-performing skills for destroyers, cruisers, and battleships. These changes are based on both statistical data and player feedback and are meant to make these skills more practical in battle.

Complete List of Changes

See the Commander Skills article for all skills in tabular form.

Consumables Specialist (Battleships, Cruisers, Destroyers – Line 1)

Removed the following effects:

  • Fighter consumable cooldown time: –10%
  • Spotting Aircraft consumable cooldown time: –10%
  • Defensive AA consumable cooldown time: –10%
  • Main Battery Reload Booster consumable cooldown time: –10%
  • Torpedo Reload Booster consumable cooldown time: –10%

Added the following effect:

  • Cooldown time of all consumables, except Damage Control Party and Repair Party: –7.5% (for unique Commanders that have an enhanced version of this skill: –10%)

The bonus also doesn't affect Specialized Repair Teams, Heavy Repair Teams, or Fast Damage Control Team.

This skill will now affect a greater variety of consumables, which means that it will benefit most ships in the game. To balance this out, we decided to slightly reduce the bonus itself.

Preventive Maintenance (Battleships, Destroyers – Line 1)

Added the following effects:

  • Increases HP of AA guns: +15% (for unique Commanders: +20%)
  • Increases HP of secondary guns: +15% (for unique Commanders: +20%)

Super-Heavy AP Shells (Battleships – Line 3)

Added the following effects:

  • Fire damage received: –10%
  • Flooding damage received: –10%

Improved Repair Party Readiness (Battleships – Line 3)

Added a new effect that can be activated:

  • Receive an additional Repair Party charge for accruing 2,000,000 potential damage (once per battle):
    • Repair Party charges: +1

Focus Fire Training (Cruisers – Line 2, Battleships – Line 3)

Added the following effect:

  • Immediate damage when activating a priority sector: +1.5%

Changed the following effects:

  • Airstrike armament reload time: –10% → –15%
  • Aircraft preparation time: –5% → –10%

When you activate a priority AA sector, enemy squadrons within its range immediately receive damage, based on the squadron's HP. Currently, without using this skill, cruisers and battleships deal immediate damage equal to 3.5% of the enemy squadron's HP, and the skill buffs it up to 5%.

Pack a Punch (Cruisers – Line 3)

Renamed Enhanced Torpedo Explosive Charge as “Pack a Punch” and added the following effect:

  • Secondary battery firing range: +20%

Some cruisers actively use their secondaries; however, there aren't that many skills that apply bonuses to them. This change will make the skill useful to a bigger pool of ships.

Furious (Battleships – Line 4)

Removed the following effects:

  • Main battery reload time: –5%
  • Dispersion of shells fired by enemies attacking your ship: +5%

Added the following changes:

  • Improves your ship's characteristics for each active fire and/or flooding instance on board your ship.
    • First fire/flooding—main battery reload time: –10%
    • Second and each consecutive fire/flooding instance (up to 6)—main battery reload time: –5%

Fire and flooding can be extremely frustrating, especially when you don't have a Damage Control Party charge available. This skill will partially compensate for the inconvenience by providing the ship with a significant bonus to her main battery reload time. Additionally, it can be combined with the updated Super-Heavy AP Shells to reduce both fire and flooding damage.

Dazzle (Destroyers – Line 4)

Added a new bonus to the activated effect—it reduces the accuracy of hostile fire directed at your ship and increases her speed for 15 s after your ship has been detected.

  • Ship speed: +8%

AA Defense and ASW Expert (Battleships – Line 2, Cruisers – Line 4)

Changed the following effects:

Battleships
  • Continuous AA damage: +10% → +15%
  • Damage from AA shell explosions: +10% → +15%
Cruisers
  • Continuous AA damage: +20% → +25%
  • Damage from AA shell explosions: +20% → +25%

Activated effect: Improves your ship's characteristics when her AA guns are active.

  • Ship consumable preparation and reload time: –15% → –40%

Activated effect: Improves your ship's characteristics when her AA guns are active.

  • Ship consumable preparation and reload time: –20% → –50%

Due to these changes, you can take advantage of the opportunity to reset Commander skills absolutely free of charge during the first week of Update 12.10.

Battle Pass

Update 12.10 delivers a new Battle Pass season. Progress through the stages and earn valuable rewards!

This time, the final reward for the Free Battle Pass is 3x Black Friday 2023 containers, while the final reward for the Premium Battle Pass is a permanent economic bonus package for a Tier VIII ship.

The seasonal bonuses are identical to the previous pass: an additional combat mission to earn 80 BP points and progress through levels; +10 BP levels immediately after the purchase; +100% first daily victory bonus; and +5% bonus to Coal, Steel, and Research Point earnings.

In Update 12.10, we will be testing different variations of Battle Pass progress. This means the rewards will stay the same but the ways to progress will be different.

Early Access to New Japanese Battleships Continues

Early Access to the new Japanese Battleships continues in Update 12.10.

These ships have accurate large-caliber guns and are intended for long-distance engagements. This is emphasized by the presence of the Spotting Aircraft With High-Precision Optics consumable that not only increases the firing range of their main battery guns but also provides an additional bonus to their accuracy.

VIII Yumihari – Available in sequential bundles obtainable for a temporary resource — Japanese Tokens.
IX Adatara – Available in sequential bundles obtainable for a temporary resource — Japanese Tokens.
X Bungo – Available to purchase for Doubloons Doubloons at the end of a sequential bundle chain.

Once Update 12.11 goes live, these Japanese battleships will become available for all players to research.

Asymmetric Battles

Starts: Nov 23, 10:00 AM Central   Ends: Jan 10, 01:00 AM Central

The latest iteration of Asymmetric Battles awaits you 2 weeks after the release of Update 12.10. This time, you can participate playing Tier VI–X ships and superships of all types. You’ll be matched in a team of five players, with the tier difference between human players limited to one, and fight against 12 bots that will be two tiers lower than each tier represented in the player team.

For example: If a team of players has only Tier VI ships, they will face Tier IV bots. If there are Tier VI and VII players on the team, there will be Tier IV and V bots, respectively. Bot teams won't have any submarines. Additionally, Divisions of up to five players are allowed.

We’ve also made some improvements to the bot AI based on your feedback. AI-controlled ships have been reprogrammed to prioritize attacking the player ship with the highest HP in proximity. Also, compared to the previous iterations, bots will be less efficient at dodging torpedoes and will more actively engage in capturing Key Areas.

More details will be revealed in a separate article.

Voyage to the North Pole Continues

7th directive starts: Nov 17, 04:00 AM Central

Update 12.10 delivers another set of missions! Clan Battles

A week after the release of Update 12.10, Clan Battles Season 23 — dubbed "Triton" — will commence.

Clan Battles offer an excellent opportunity to show off your skills in World of Warships. It's not only the results of individual battles that are important here but also general progress. Fight alongside your allies and rise to the top!

Win Clan Battles to earn valuable rewards, such as Steel Steel, Oil Oil, Premium time days of Warships Premium Account, and combat signals, as well as expendable camouflages and rare and unique expendable economic bonuses. The more victories you achieve, the more rewards you'll earn!

Rules

Gaming sessions are available on: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Format: 7 vs. 7; Tier X ships.

On the days of the release of any updates, Clan Battles are held only during the Prime Time of your server.

Game Maps and Modes

The following rules apply to all maps:

  • Number of Key Areas: 3
  • Capture time: 30 seconds
  • Scoring of capture points: 3 points every 4 seconds

Ship Restrictions

Just like in the previous seasons, certain restrictions on the numbers of specific ships or ship types per team apply in Clan Battles.

The restrictions can be set for the entire duration of a season or for specific periods of time; for example, they might be set after the first 2 weeks of the season and then replaced with different restrictions a few weeks later. This allows us to promptly react to the current state of the season.

Season 23 begins with the following restrictions:

  • Players will be able to go into battle aboard cruisers, destroyers, and battleships.
  • No more than one battleship per team.

At the start of the season, there won't be any special restrictions. During the season, based on our statistical analysis, new restrictions may be applied, and existing restrictions may be changed. We'll announce any changes separately on our Development Blog. Information about any changes will also be available in the game client.

Please note: The results of this Clan Battles season will be used for seeding in a yet-to-be-announced tournament that will take place in early February.

Future Changes

Santa's Gift, Santa's Big Gift, and Santa's Mega Gift container contents update

Don’t panic! Santa’s Gifts will stay almost the same, but with an improvement that we hope you’ll be excited about—an updated shortened ship drop list. Last year's containers had a ship list featuring 174 ships in total — this time, instead of just adding the new ships released over the last year, we’ve also removed older ships to make it easier for you to obtain your desired ships.

A total of 43 older ships have been removed from the drop list — all of which are available for direct purchase in the Armory. In their stead, 19 newer additions to the game have been added.

See Santa's 2023 Gifts for the new ship lists.

All other aspects of Santa’s Gift containers, such as drop rates for each category, will remain the same as last year.
