Type 4 Chi-To
940000
The Type 4 Chi-To medium tank was developed in 1943 on the basis of the Chi-Nu. The tank was conceived to replace the Chi-Ha. However, mass production was not launched due to shortages of materials and components. A total of six chassis were produced, and only two tanks were built on their basis.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Good overall mobility
  • Awesome gun depression
  • Accurate and superior firepower
  • Good amount of hit points

Cons:

  • Noticeably bulky size
  • Thin armor, except turret front mantlet
  • Side armor is frequently over matched and penetrated with HE shells
  • Prone to engine damage from the front like most of the Japanese tanks
  • Acceleration and top speed are both under par for a medium, although maneuverability is still good

Performance

The Type 4 Chi-To trades armor for solid maneuverability and rate of fire, which allow this tank to excel in a support role and when executing flanking maneuvers. Slow acceleration, bulky size, and paper thin armor make this tank weak to HE rounds and getting caught out in the open. Be sure to maximize cover as much as possible, as well as attempting to hull down to make use of the 150mm gun mantlet armor and solid gun depression.
