Update 0.7.8

Jump to: navigation, search

We have passed one more year on our voyage, and to mark the occasion, we’ve been busy getting ready for the celebrations dedicated to World of Warship’s Third Anniversary! Join in the frenzy with Update 0.7.8, which comes with a new collection to complete and fresh rewards to be claimed.

So, what’s on offer in our celebratory update? For a start, you'll find yourself in the decorated port of Saint Petersburg; its skies lit up with dazzling fireworks, blazing searchlights and other decorations designed to immerse you in the festive atmosphere!

With the release of Update 0.7.8, Saint Petersburg will appear as your default Port in the game.

But that’s not all; we have some enticing gifts in store for you! More details will be unveiled on the day of World of Warship’s birthday: September 17. In the meantime, enjoy the new collection, acquire the Anniversary tokens and recruit Dasha Perova as your ship's Commander!

The Arsenal: Anniversary Section

Welcome to the Anniversary section of the Arsenal. Here you can spend the World of Warships Anniversary tokens you obtain during our celebrations. You will find these tokens in containers dedicated to the World of Warships Anniversary. These will be available when completing daily combat missions, accessible between August 24 and September 19.

Remember that the new tokens and the category are temporary and will be removed from the game when the next update hits the servers. Tokens can be exchanged for credits at a rate of 1:50,000.

Be mindful that with the release of Update 0.7.8 the "Go Navy!" category will no longer be available in the game. All Sharks and Eagles tokens from the previous patch will be exchanged for credits at a rate of 1:50,000. A bit more reasonable than just leaving them to clutter your accounts, wouldn’t you say?

What can you get in exchange for your Anniversary tokens? The new section of the Arsenal will offer you... Commander Dasha! No gimmicks here! Dasha Perova is ready to stand at the helm of American, Japanese, Soviet, French, British, German, and Pan-Asian ships, with a unique appearance for each of the above nations! New Commanders in the update will come with 10 skill points each and unique voiceovers. Staying true to her national background, Dasha will speak Russian only.

The available voiceover modifications will include "Standard" and "National+". You can select your preferred modification in the Audio section of the game settings. Going into battle with Сommander Dasha and choosing the Standard modification, results in all audio commands, including those from other players, being pronounced by Dasha. Selecting the National+ modification and having your ship helmed by Dasha, results in all commands transmitted from your ship being voiced by her. Other commands will be voiced according to the nation of other players' ships. We've also added a "Dasha Perova" modification. Choosing this modification causes all in-game commands, regardless of who is the Commander of your ship, being voiced by Dasha Perova.

Many players have enjoyed a temporary type of battle—the Space Battle—whilst Tier X ships have been prowling the waters of World of Warships in extraordinary camouflage for quite a while now. The anniversary is a great reason to bring back those special Commanders from outer space, where they’ve been residing since the previous event. Recruit them in the Arsenal and conquer the seas with their valuable assistance.

The number of Commanders you can obtain is unlimited.

With Update 0.7.8, World of Warships gets three new signals — Basilisk, Scylla, and Leviathan.

  • Basilisk: +75% to XP per battle, +30% to credits per battle.
  • Scylla: +50% to XP per battle, +150% to Commander XP per battle, +25% to credits per battle.
  • Leviathan: +50% to XP per battle, +100% to Commander XP per battle, +200% to Free XP earned per battle, +20% to credits per battle.

In the new Arsenal category, you will be able to receive new signals in exchange for Anniversary tokens. You should also know that you are able decorate your ships not only with signals, but also with brand new special permanent camouflages: "From the Bottom of the Ocean" for Z-23 and "Arctic" for Edinburgh. From the Bottom of the Ocean camo for Z-23 imitates the ship’s look after a British aviation raid on August 12, 1944. The Arctic camouflage covers cruiser Edinburgh with ice, taking us all the way to the North where the ship accompanied Arctic convoys. Both camos reduce the ship’s detectability by 3%, decrease the firing accuracy of the enemy by 4%, save 10% of the cost of the ship's post-battle service, and add 50% to XP per battle.

The category dedicated to the celebration of the anniversary also contains World of Warships Anniversary consumable camouflage and special patches based on the new Pin Up music video.

  • The Last Conquest permanent camouflage for Z-23 — 200 tokens, can be purchased only once.
  • Arctic permanent camouflage for Edinburgh — 200 tokens, can be purchased only once.
  • Commander Dasha Perova with 10 skill points for American, Japanese, Soviet, French, British, German, or Pan-Asian ships — 150 tokens.

Space Commanders Golden Konung (France), Pete Earthling (Germany), LilFish OG (Germany), Queen Bee (Japan), 11010111101001 (Japan), Red Freedom (USSR), Dart Norman (UK), Hzrzngh (USA), or Cybermedes (USA), each equipped with 10 skill points — 150 tokens.

  • 1 World of Warships Anniversary expendable camouflage — 5 tokens.
  • 10 World of Warships Anniversary expendable camouflages — 50 tokens.
  • 5 Basilisk signals — 30 tokens.
  • 5 Scylla signals — 30 tokens.
  • 5 Leviathan signals — 30 tokens.
  • Commander Dasha, Commander Alena, Aviation Pilot, Cook, Assistant Engineer, Signalman, Sailor patches — 60 tokens, each patch can be purchased only once.

For the Anniversary, the game client welcomes a set of special permanent camouflages at attractive discounts for popular Premium ships: Tirpitz, Gascogne, Atago, Scharnhorst, Duke of York, and Hood. These camouflages will be available for purchase with doubloons only, until the next major update is released. Discounts will only be applicable to the camouflages mentioned below.

Bonuses for all camouflages are the same:

  • –3% to detectability range by sea.
  • +4% to dispersion of shells fired by the enemy ship.
  • –10% to the cost of the post-battle service.
  • +50% to XP per battle.

Festive Collection

It has become a welcome tradition to dedicate a special collection to each World of Warships anniversary. This year, you will be hunting for the fragments of Dasha Perova's diary; a collection that consists of 16 items divided into 4 sections. Having completed each section, you will receive an Anniversary Premium Container, with the reward for completing the entire collection being a Supercontainer and commemorative flag.

Missing items from the Anniversary collection can be exchanged for duplicates, with an exchange rate of 3 to 1. You can choose which item you want to receive in exchange for duplicates, ensuring that completion of the collection is in your control. After collecting all of the components of a collection, all duplicates remaining in the player's account will be exchanged for credits at a rate of 1 duplicate to 15,000 credits.

You can find more information about the collections in World of Warships and the details of the new collection in a special article that we’ve prepared.

You will find the following in containers dedicated to the World of Warships Anniversary:

  • 1 special signal (Dragon, Wyvern, Red Dragon, Ouroboros, Hydra, Scylla, Basilisk, or Leviathan).
  • 8 Anniversary tokens for the Arsenal.
  • A collection item.

A special Premium Container holding a great number of prizes will be available in the Premium shop:

  • 5 special signals: Dragon, Wyvern, Red Dragon, Ouroboros, or Hydra; or 10 special signals: Basilisk, Scylla, or Leviathan.
  • 45 Anniversary tokens for the Arsenal.
  • A collection item.

If you want to complete the collection dedicated to the project's previous anniversary in 2017, the Arsenal has a new container for you with a price of 5,000 Coal. It contains:

  • 1 World of Warships Anniversary, Halloween, Valentine's Day, La Fheile Padraig, Hunter, or Victory Salute expendable camouflage.
  • 5 signals: Juliet Charlie, India Delta, November Echo Settesex, Sierra Mike, November Foxtrot, or Juliet Whiskey Unaone.
  • "2 Years of World of Warships" collection item.

Japanese Destroyers

In Update 0.7.8, the alternate branch of Japanese destroyers is extended, with Tier IX Kitakaze and Tier X Harugumo destroyers available for research and purchase in-game. These destroyers are part of the research hierarchy of Japanese ship Akizuki. Both ships carry quick-firing, dual-purpose guns, enabling them to confront both enemy ships and aircraft effectively. Despite their small caliber, high explosive shells mounted on Tier VIII or higher ships of the alternate branch have increased armor penetration—meaning they can even pierce armor up to 25 mm thick. Thus, most destroyers can easily become victims of these Japanese warships. If their Commander masters the "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells" skill, this advantage becomes even greater, with their projectiles able to penetrate armor up to 32 mm. However, despite all their advantages, these destroyers have rather long bodies, and poor maneuverability and speed as a result of this.

You can find more details about the new ships in a dedicated article that we’ve prepared for you.

Changes in French Cruisers

French cruisers joined the fleet more than a year ago and won over players' hearts immediately. There were many good reasons for that: including their efficient main battery, long-range torpedoes, and high speed for their type, which can be enhanced further by the Engine BoostWhile active, increases a ship's speed by a fixed percentage. consumable.

Researchable Tier VI+ French ships can use the Main Battery Reload Booster consumable, which complements their features and diversifies their associated game tactics. But keep in mind that the efficiency of the new consumable depends on the situation and the player's ability to choose the right moment to use it. For most cruisers, utilizing the consumable will result in an indisputable improvement in performance. However, Charles Martel and Saint-Louis currently reload their 203 mm/55 Mle 1934 guns slower by 11 seconds. Otherwise, they would be too effective for their tier.

Characteristics of the Main Battery Reload Booster consumable:

  • Main battery reload time: –50%.
  • Action time of the consumable: 15 seconds.
  • Cooldown time: 180 seconds for Main Battery Reload Booster I, and 120 seconds for Main Battery Reload Booster II.
  • Number of charges: three for Main Battery Reload Booster I, and four for Main Battery Reload Booster II.

Game Balance Changes

  • For British Tier I cruiser Black Swan, the guns’ reload time has been increased from 3 to 4 seconds. AP shells have been replaced by HE shells:
    • Initial shell velocity — 811 m/s; maximum damage — 750; chances of causing fire — 6%.
    • Since the cruiser’s shells have typical British ricochet angles and a high firing rate, she has gained the reputation of being the best duel ship of her Tier. The changes are designed to reduce her effectiveness, making her less attractive for experienced players, but maintaining comfort for beginners.
  • To satisfy numerous requests from our players, we simplified the "Ultimate Frontier" operation:
    • Bots’ reaction time to torpedoes has been slightly increased. You’ll now find it easier to hit them.
    • Bots’ shooting accuracy has been reduced, and the time it takes to aim at players' ships increased.

Ranked Battles

The Tenth Season of Ranked Battles kicks off together with Update 0.7.8!

Season starts: Fri. Aug. 24 9:00 AM PT
Season ends: Mon. Oct. 08 3:00 AM PT

You will need ships of Tier VIII for ranks 23 through 16, and Tier X ships for Ranks 15 through 2. You will be able to continue the fight in the League of Sea Wolves with Tier V ships.

Starting from the Tenth Season you can earn not only various items in Ranked Battles, but also a special resource — Steel — that will allow you to berth unique ships from the Arsenal in your Port! Season duration is 45 days.

  • In order to participate in Ranked Battles, you need to have achieved at least Level 14 in your Service Record.
  • There is a total of 23 ranks. For the sake of simplicity, the ranks have been combined to form the different leagues: Third, Second, First, Premier, and the League of Sea Wolves.
  • Two teams of 7 players fight against one another. Through winning battles, players earn the stars needed to climb the rank ladder. For the majority of ranks, a defeat means a lost star.
  • Novice players start the season from Rank 23, while those who participated in the previous Ranked Battles season will get bonus stars: one for each rank previously attained.
  • Ranks 23 to 17 as well as Ranks 15, 12 (instead of Rank 10 in the previous season) and 1 are irrevocable. In the upcoming season we will return the irrevocable status from Rank 10 back to Rank 12, as the decision of moving the irrevocable rank in the previous season was made due to changing the ship tiers available for certain leagues.
  • At Ranks 23–20, players don’t lose a star for a defeat, and being the top XP earner on your team in a lost battle keeps your hard-earned star.
  • For Ranks 23–11, a bonus star is given when you progress to the next rank.
  • Between Ranks 23–16, battles will involve Tier VIII ships only. For Ranks 15–2, battles require ships from Tier X. Commanders who achieve Rank 1 can, of course, continue playing against each other with ships from Tier V.
  • Team lineups are mirrored in terms of ship types and tiers.

Available maps:

  • Tier VIII: Neighbors, Northern Lights, Hotspot, Sea of Fortune, and Mountain Range in the Domination mode.
  • Tier X: Hotspot, Warrior's Path, Tears of the Desert, Sea of Fortune, Mountain Range, and Sleeping Giant in the Domination mode.
  • Tier V in the League of Sea Wolves: Fault Line, Trident, New Dawn, Strait, Ring, Big Race, Archipelago.

All details about the forthcoming new season of Ranked Battles are available in a dedicated article that we’ve prepared.

This season will be the last one in which you can receive the Jolly Roger flag as a reward for reaching Rank 1. Future seasons will see it replaced by other commemorative rewards.

Arsenal

New Goodies

With the release of Update 0.7.8, the Arsenal welcomes not only the new temporary Anniversary section, but also new ships, resources, and an entirely new category.

  • The hardboiled Tier X cruiser Stalingrad has been added to the Ships section. This is a ship armed with 305 mm guns and boasting an impressive amount of HP for its type. Project 82 is the world's largest heavy cruiser, and now it’s yours to take command of in World of Warships! The ship comes supplied with a slot in the Port and a Commander with 3 skill points. It is available in exchange for 28,000 Steel.
  • Molybdenum and Copper have been added. Technically, these are resources, but in fact the quantity in the possession of a player is an indicator of their skill. You receive them for winning the Typhoon League (Molybdenum) and achieving rank 1 (Сopper) respectively. These resources cannot be exchanged for others but can be exchanged for commemorative camouflages for unique ships, such as Flint, Black, or Stalingrad. For each previous season of Ranked Battles where you reached rank 1 or Clan Battles season where you had 30 victories in the Typhoon League, you will receive 1 Copper and 1 Molybdenum respectively. Stalingrad flags will be removed from accounts when Update 0.7.8 is release, while Jolly Roger flags will remain.
    • In case you already received the "Ultimate Mustang" camouflage for Flint and "Ultimate Crocodile" camouflage for Black, you will be issued 6 Copper less.
    • In the Camouflages category, special camos will be available for Copper and Molybdenum. Coupons are not applicable for these camouflages.
    • "Ultimate Mustang" for Flint at a cost of 3 Copper:
      • –3% to detectability range by sea.
      • +4% to dispersion of shells fired by the enemy ship.
      • +100% to XP per battle.

    • The cost of the container has been reduced from 12,000 to 5,000 Coal.
  • A new Patch category has been added. This section contains backgrounds for patches displaying the clan tag of your clan. If you are not in a clan, the basic symbol will be displayed instead of the clan tag. In total, three backgrounds are available, their cost is 1,000 Coal. Each background can be purchased only once.

Update of Coupons

With the release of Update 0.7.8, your used coupons for Signals (at 25% and 50% discounts), Upgrades (25%), and Camouflages (25%) will become available to you again.

Please note that the number of coupons is always limited and they cannot be "stockpiled". For example, if you had two coupons with a 50% discount for the Signals category and you spent one prior to this update; the refresh in Update 0.7.8 will replenish the used coupon, bringing you back to a total of two.

Frequency that coupons are credited, starting from Update 0.7.6:

  • Ships category (25%) — one coupon every 6 updates.
  • Upgrades category (25%) — one coupon per update.
  • Signals category (50%) — two coupons per update.
  • Signals category (25%) — two coupons per update.
  • Camouflages category (25%) — two coupons per update.

Interface

  • We have changed the system for displaying additional content. This has been done because the list of acquirable items has become too big, causing the previous display to become both inconvenient and cumbersome to use. In the new Update, all content is divided into three categories: special ships (from game events), historical ships, and custom ships.
    • The first category, special ships, allows the configuration and display of decorative, space and Halloween camouflages. The decorative camouflage section offers special permanent camouflages for Dunkerque ("Fleur d'acier"), Richelieu ("The Maid of Orleans" and "The Republic"), Gascogne ("The Maid of Orleans" and "The Republic"), Stalingrad ("War Paint"), Cleveland ("Freedom"), Baltimore ("Freedom"), Des Moines ("Freedom"), Salem ("Freedom"), and Worcester ("Sharks" and "Eagles").
    • The Historical Ships category contains two sections named "Imitation" and "Painting".
      • Camouflage patterns from the Imitation section: Scharnhorst ("Arctic"), Bismarck ("The Last Conquest" and "From the Bottom of the Ocean"), Z-23 ("From the Bottom of the Ocean"), Hood ("The Last Conquest" and "From the Bottom of the Ocean"), Duke of York ("Arctic"), and Edinburgh ("Arctic").
      • The Painting section offers the following camos: Varyag ("Pacific Squadron") and Normandie ("Ocean Liner").
    • In the "Custom Ships" category, you can disable the display of special Azur Lane, Arpeggio, High School Fleet, Dragon, and Makoto Kobayashi Signature series camouflages.
    • Once any of the categories is disabled, Commanders from that category will be displayed as standard Commanders assigned to special ships.
  • Please note that with the release of Update 0.7.8, all previous settings will be reset. We've made changes in the system to make it easier for you to configure the display of additional content to your tastes.
  • By popular demand, for those of you who like bigger screen resolutions, we've added the "Increase UI scale" setting! This new feature allows you to increase the game interface elements to fit your monitor, offering an improved experience when playing at higher screen resolutions.
    • When that setting is not used, the game will automatically select the correct scale the first time you launch the updated game client. You can always change the scale using the Increase UI scale option on the Graphics tab in the Settings. This section also has the "Define" button that will set a recommended UI scale based on the parameters of your monitor.
  • The game loading screen now offers an option to login via Google, and Facebook.
    • To login via any of the available social networks, you need to link it to your account in your profile settings. In the game client, click on the icon of the required social network. An external browser will be launched for you to log into your preferred social network and allow access to your account. After that, you can enter the game via the selected social network. Please note that to enter the game through a social network, you need to log in to your account at wargaming.net or, if you do not have an account yet, you can create one by logging in to the chosen social network.

Other Improvements and Fixes

  • Minor improvements in the geometry and textures of the following ships: Dunkerque, Roma, Grozovoi, Arizona, Z-52, and Mogami.
  • Visual enhancements for the fine elements of customizations used on the ships of Pan-Asia, U.S.S.R., Germany, Italy, France, and Great Britain.
  • Tier X German destroyer Z-52: Reduced the ship's draught by 0.374 m. This change will not affect the combat characteristics and balancing of the ship.
  • Fixed an issue with Worcester's medium-range AA aura being displayed as part of the long-range aura. Only the display of the aura is affected, the ship's performance characteristics are not affected in any way.
  • Fixed an issue with the ship carousel filter not working when tasked to complete a combat mission with a particular ship.
  • Fixed an issue with players unable to move the chat off the screen in the training room.
  • Improved voiceover for the special permanent camouflage "Magnu-S" for German Tier VIII battleship Tirpitz.
  • Changed the name of torpedoes on Japanese Tier VIII battleship Kii from Type.93 mod. 2 into Type.93 mod. 1, to avoid confusion with other torpedoes of the same name.
  • Fixed an issue with the display of technical text in the training room when applying a filter for Pan-American ships.
  • In Update 0.7.8, we have further improved the logic of bots in Co-op Battles. The bots will now be more responsive to the dynamic and changing situations of battle.
  • In the upcoming version, we will update the sound engine version. This will affect all sound files and music used in the game, and it is intended to improve the background music in future.
