Vorschlag für einen schweren Panzer auf Basis des Conquerer Mk. II. Anders als das Serienmodell bot diese Ausführung einen rückwärtigen Kampfraum. Es wurden keine Prototypen gebaut.

Possibly the most consistently and seriously damaging heavy tank in the game, the FV215b is as quirky as it is potentially devastating. Most easily likened to the American T110E5, the 215b is outfitted with a marginally better hull than the Caernarvon and Conqueror. Nevertheless, the tank makes some spectacular leaps from its predecessor in terms of turret thickness, gun performance, general stats, and not least in agility as it receives roughly a 65% increase in traverse speed. Also, it may take some time to get used to the rear mounted turret and finds its gameplay similar that of the Maus in that aspect.

The FV215b is expected to be removed from World of Tanks in a far future patch, at which time its tier X heavy place will be taken by the Chieftain Mk2 (see links below).

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Best DPM of Tier X Heavies
  • Exceptional Accuracy, aim time, and on the move gun handling
  • Superior premium round in APCR has fewer drawbacks than HEAT
  • HE round is modified HESH with very useful penetration
  • Turret can bounce more than you'd expect

Cons:

  • Hull armor for a heavy
  • Ammo rack is weak
  • Catches fire easily, with weak fuel tanks in the front
  • Sub-par top speed considering the overall low armor
  • Peek-a-boom tactics limited by rear mounted turret

Performance

The FV215b is generally referred to as a Heavium tank and shares a few similarities with the American tier 10 heavy, the T110E5. Both have very good gun depression, both have 400 alpha guns with not-too-alien gun stats to each other, both are highly maneuverable and have relatively weak side and rear armor. The main difference between these two tanks is the armor profile and the DPM. The E5 has a generally stronger armor profile, yet the FV215B excels in DPM.

As a Heavium tank, the FV215 combines some of the speed and maneuverability of medium tanks with the armor of a heavy tank. The play style requires a highly skilled driver to truly take full advantage of the FV's strength of DPM and maneuverability while combating for it's weakness in armor profile. One of the highly successful strategies for driving the FV215B is that of a medium tank hunter. Many maps in Blitz have well defined roles for medium tanks. The FV215B is able to use its' good maneuverability and power to weight ratio to keep up with and assist medium tanks. It is especially successful in this role in medium tank brawling situations when friendly medium tanks initiate contact first. While enemy mediums are distracted brawling, a skilled FV215B driver can use their high DPM to help turn the tide of such a brawling engagement very quickly. Take care when running with mediums to not choose specific areas with too tightly confined of a space as the overall footprint of the FV215B is large and traversing will be difficult in tight spots.

When an opportunity to support brawling mediums does not support itself, the FV215B also excels at a second line support role of heavy tanks. Again, allowing allies to make first contact and utilizing the FV215B's exceptional DPM on distracted enemies is a major key to victory. The very good maneuverability of the FV215B also allows for short flanking maneuvers to support friendly front-line heavy tanks. When executing a short flank to take side shots on enemies, the fast rate of fire for the FV215B allows the player to usually get off two rounds against the distracted enemy quickly before they notice.

Other tactics to note; hull down principles CAN be used and the -10 gun depression gives a larger range of available terrain for this tactic. An FV215B driver must beware though that the long length of the tank coupled with rear mounted turret can limit spots that work well with other shorter front mounted turret vehicles. Further while the FV215B does have a smaller and less obvious hatch than it's cousin E5, the turret cheeks are not as robust and very vulnerable to Tank Destroyer rounds, or most enemy premium tank ammunition (HEAT, APCR, etc). As a result, caution should be exercised when employing hull down tactics. In the same vein, the tank appears to be an excellent sidescraper on paper, yet the thin side armor coupled with wide stance for the FV215B makes this tactic risky. One must be PERFECTLY side scraped to bounce shots with the side armor and not expose the weak front plates. With front mounted fuel tanks and a weak lower front plate, CO2 tanks become a viable (nearly required) choice as a third equipment slot to mitigate the risk of fire.

The FV215B is a very unique vehicle in WoTB. Its' Heavium play style coupled with very unique armor profile can offer a challenge to new drivers of this tank. Ultimately the FV215B's exceptional DPM resulting from its' high rate of fire coupled with high quality mobility make this tank a top pick of many skilled players.
