The FCM36 PaK40 is a French Tier 3 Premium Tank Destroyer. Ten were constructed in 1943 using the French FCM36 Light Infantry tank as a basis by Baukommando Becker. The conversions were given the name Marder I, although this name is also used to name similar conversions such as those using Lorraine tractor or H39 tank chassis. The FCM36 Pak40 conversions were assigned to 21st Panzer Division and used in Normandy from 1944.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- 400m view range at tier 3
- Effective RoF/Pen/Alpha
Cons:
- Locked turret with very poor depression
- Very slow
- Tank traverse poor
- Weak armour
Performance
The FCM36 Pak40 boasts one of the finest guns in its tier, but is hampered by poor mobility particularly when compared to the Marder II in the German tree at the same tier. Using its excellent gun and view range it should be played as purely as a sniper, but it can play this role with ease up to tier 5 matches.
As its speed and traverse are both poor, relocation during a match is difficult, and it is prone to being picked off by advancing light tanks which the FCM 36 Pak40 will struggle to turn and shoot at if they approach from the side.
Early Research
None, this is a premium tank.
Historical Info
Marder I conversions were performed by Captain Alfred Becker’s Baukommando in Paris and at Krefeld (in cooperation with Alkett in Berlin). The FCM36 PaK40 conversions served in France as part of "Schnelle Brigade West", which was incorporated into the 21st Panzer Division in 1943. It then served with 21st Panzer Division’s Sturmgeschütz Abteilung 200, commanded by Major Alfred Becker.
The FCM36 PaK40 in the game is interesting as it exists in the French tree, but while it was based on a French tank it was only ever used by the German army.
