==Game Format== ==Game Format==
+Among the major reasons to join or create a Clan is the ability to compete in Clan Battles. These competitions are among the most competitive Game Modes in by World of Warships, with a format similar to King of the Seas. Clan Battles are only available at specific times and are restricted to certain tiers of ships. Players queue for Clan Battles as a team, and are matched up against a team of similar rating that is likewise in the queue.

?To participate in Clan Battles, clans must form divisions. In addition to clan commanders and deputy commanders, players with the Recruit or Commissioned Officer roles can create a division and queue for battles. Clan battles are only available on certain days and at certain times for each server. Clan officers can select which region's time they wish to play in, but a clan can only play in one time slot per day; on patch days, clan battles are only available on their own server's prime time slot.

?If a clan does not have enough clan members to form a division, they can opt to bring mercenaries to fill the remaining spots on the team. However, the majority of the division must be made up of players from the clan (for example, in season with seven players on a team, there is a maximum of three mercenaries allowed).

?Only ships of certain tiers can participate in Clan Battles. There is no limit on the number of cruisers and destroyers allowed in a division, but battleships are frequently limited to one per team, and aircraft carriers and submarines are usually not allowed. Additionally, seasons can have restrictions on the number of specific ships or combinations of ships that can be brought, including not allowing certain ships at all. These restrictions can be in effect for the entire season or be added after the season starts.

?===Rental Ships===+===Divisions and Matchmaking===
?Players without a Tier X ship that wish to participate in Clan Battles may have access to a limited pool of rental ships. Each group of available ships includes one destroyer, one cruiser, and one battleship; the available ships will rotate approximately every three weeks.+ Divisions for Clan Battles must be formed under the following restrictions:
+* A Clan Division may be led by a Clan commander, executive officer, recruiter, or commissioned officer.
+* Depending on the season, ships of a single Tier (VI, VIII or X have been played) or multiple Tiers (thus far Tier VIII and IX, and X and Superships) are allowed, with limits on the number of higher tier ships can be used.
+* All players group up and enter the queue simultaneously
+* The majority of the players must be from the competing clan — most seasons allow a limited number of "mercenaries" (non-clan players)
+* Players may only queue for Clan Battles during specific hours on select days (that vary by season).
+** Clan officers can select which server's time slot they wish to play in, but a clan can only play in one time slot per day.
+* Clans can usually fight clans from their own server or other servers; on patch days, cross-server battles are not available.

?Rental ships operate under the following rules:
?* Players receive these ships temporarily, and the ships are removed when the season of Clan Battles ends.
?* They can only be used in Clan Battles.
?* Rental ships cannot mount camouflage.
?* Commanders may be re-assigned to rental ships without penalty.
?* Rental ships generate the same amount of credits, experience, Free XP, and Commander XP as ordinary ships.
?* When rental ships are removed: their Commanders are automatically sent to the Reserve; any upgrades, consumables, and signals are moved to the Inventory; experience earned with a rented ship is transferred to the starting ship of the respective nation.
?* If the ships have alternative modules — such as Shimakaze’s torpedoes — they can be mounted at no cost.
?
?===Maps===
?Each map appears in a domination point configuration unique to Clan Battles. These new capture point configurations still present a team with the challenge of splitting up or staying together; aggressive maneuvers should pay more dividends than a defensive stance, hopefully leading to battles that are more dynamic and more variable game tactics. More maps will be added into the rotation gradually in order to support a more dynamic play experience.

?===Matchmaking===+Several divisions from the same Сlan may be in the queue for battle at the same time. The results of every battle will be applied to a Сlan's Rating in order after each of the ongoing battles finishes.
?Several teams from the same Сlan may be in the queue for battle at the same time. The results of every battle will be applied to a Сlan's Rating consequently after each of the ongoing battles involving the Сlan's teams is over.+* Clans can have up to two ratings ("Alpha" and "Bravo") which will be matched based on their current positioning/ranking
?* Rating is linked to a Clan.+* The highest Rating is shown as the Clan's overall rating.
?* Team matchmaking will be based on your Clan's skill level, which is manifested through the League and Group your Clan occupies. The more battles your Clan plays, the more efficiently your opposing teams will be selected.+* Matchmaking will be based on your Clan's skill level, which is based on the League and Group your Clan occupies.
?* In most cases, your Clan will not be matched with any of the Clans you've just fought against. However, this situation may occur following a server reboot.+** When possible, the matchmaker will attempt to match teams against others in a similar level.
+* In most cases, your Clan will not be matched with Clans you've just fought against.
* A team cannot be matched with another team from the same Clan. * A team cannot be matched with another team from the same Clan.

?===Economy===+===Maps===
?The economy is tweaked to make sure all players within a team receive the same amount of resources. For a win, teams receive a lot more than in Random Battles, while a defeat brings a lot less.+ Each map appears in a domination configuration unique to Clan Battles. These configurations still present a team with the challenge of splitting up or staying together; aggressive maneuvers often pay more dividends than a defensive stance, hopefully leading to battles that are more dynamic and more variable game tactics. Additional maps have been added into the rotation to support a more dynamic play experience.

?For every victory in a Clan Battle, players receive 2,500 base XP and 300,000Credits (before all modifiers mounted on a player's ship are applied). By winning a Clan Battle with a ship carrying standard consumables — and given the average cost of ammunition at 20,000 credits — players receive 100,000Credits for winning a battle, or lose 50,000Credits for losing a battle. With Premium account, players should receive around 250,000Credits for a victorious battle or 30,000Credits for a lost battle.+===Rental Ships===
+In some seasons of clan battles, players without an appropriate tier ship that wish to participate in Clan Battles may have access to a limited pool of rental ships. If available then each group of available ships will include one destroyer, one cruiser, and one battleship. In some seasons the available rental ships have rotated periodically.

?For a defeat, every participant of a Clan Battle gets 250 base XP and 150,000Credits (before all modifiers are applied). In a draw, both teams get the same amount of XP and credits as in a defeat.+Rental ships operate under the following rules:
+* Players receive these ships temporarily, and the ships are removed when the season of Clan Battles ends.
+* They can only be used in Clan Battles.
+* Rental ships cannot mount camouflage.
+* Commanders may be re-assigned to rental ships without penalty, as with Premium ships.
+* Rental ships generate the same amount of credits, experience, Free XP, and Commander XP as ordinary (Tech Tree) ships.
+* When rental ships are removed their Commanders are automatically sent to the Reserve; any upgrades, consumables, and signals are moved to the Inventory; experience earned with a rented ship is transferred to the TI ship of the respective nation's tech tree.
+* If the ships have alternative modules — such as Shimakaze’s torpedoes — they can be mounted at no cost.

?All possible modifiers (camouflage patterns, Premium Account, ongoing campaign bonuses, signal flags, etc.) are allowed in Clan Battles. The default servicing cost for all Tier X ships is 180,000Credits, but may change depending on the modifiers applied.+==Personal Rewards==
+Unlike other battle modes, Clan Battles rewards every member of each team with the same rewards. For a win, teams receive better rewards than for all but an outstanding victory in Random Battles, while a defeat brings less rewards than an average Random Battle defeat. In general Clan Battles also award a Free Experience bonus modifier per battle.

?If a battle lasts for less than four and a half minutes, players on both teams receive neither experience nor credits for that battle. This restriction has been introduced to avoid any unsportsmanlike conduct in battles. All teams that have this ratio applied during a battle for the first time will be kept under scrutiny and their battles will be subject to frequent reviews, just like battles involving all Clans with battle duration times close to that value. If a Clan is subject to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty again, it will be banned from Clan Battles.+Credit and experience rewards are fixed at 2,500 base experience and Credits 300,000 Credits for a win versus 250 base experience and Credits 150,000 Credits for a loss.
+As an example, in a Tier X Clan Battle with an average cost of ammunition at Credits 20,000 credits, players receive Credits 100,000 Credits for winning a battle, or lose Credits 50,000 Credits for losing a battle. With Premium account, players should receive around Credits 250,000 Credits for a victorious battle or Credits 30,000 Credits for a lost battle. All Economic Boosters will modify these results as normal.

?In Clan Battles, the same standard protection against AFK players is applied as in other battle modes. Players that fail to inflict damage to enemy ships and cover the minimum required travel distance will have their battle XP and credits reset to 0, though they will be charged for the ship servicing and ammunition costs.+All possible modifiers (Economic Boosters, Premium Account, ongoing campaign bonuses, etc.) are active in Clan Battles. The default servicing cost for all Tier X ships is Credits 180,000 Credits, but may change depending on the modifiers applied.

?=== Other Special Rules ===+In addition to credit and experience rewards, Clan Battles will have mission chains associated with each season. These missions can award credits, doubloons, Signals, economic boosters and Free XP for winning a certain number of battles in each league. Since Season 3, Clan Battle missions have awarded Painted so it doesn't rust Steel for each three wins, and a bonus block of steel for the 30th win in each league, which can be used to purchase ships in the Armory that are not available via any other means.

?The active skills of Legendary Commanders cannot activate during Clan Battles, however their passive skills do. For example, a Kleber with unique commander Philippe Auboyneau will not activate special talent Fire and Fury upon earning a 'Captured' ribbon. However, if it has the Survivability Expert skill, it will receive the enhanced version of the skill.

If a Clan manages to win three battles, they will advance to the next League with a 35-point bonus. However, if they lose three or more battles they will remain in the same league and lose 35 points. ?==Rewards==

?Rewards for Clan Battle participation consisted of a series of missions that awarded a mixture of credits, doubloons, flags, and Free XP for winning a certain number of battles in each league.+== Other Special Rules ==

?Initially, after winning 30 battles in Typhoon League, players were awarded a Stalingrad Flag that could be exchanged — with two additional flags — for Tier X premium Soviet cruiser Stalingrad. This was changed shortly before Season 3 to the steel system, via the Armory.+The active skills of Legendary Commanders cannot activate during Clan Battles, however their passive skills still work. For example, a Kléber with unique commander Philippe Auboyneau will not activate special talent Fire and Fury upon earning a Captured ribbon. However, if it has the Survivability Expert skill selected, it will receive the enhanced version of the skill.

+If a battle lasts for less than four and a half minutes, players on both teams receive neither experience nor credits for that battle. This restriction was introduced to avoid any unsportsmanlike conduct in battles. All teams that have this ratio applied during a battle for the first time will be kept under scrutiny and their battles will be subject to reviews. If a Clan is subject to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty again, it will be banned from Clan Battles.
+
+In Clan Battles, the same standard protection against AFK players is applied as in other battle modes. Players that fail to inflict damage to enemy ships and cover the minimum required travel distance will have their battle XP and credits reset to 0, though they will be charged for the ship servicing and ammunition costs.

A quick overview of clan battles.
Icon_27.png
Available to players of Access Level 15 and higher, Clan Battles offer captains the opportunity to team up with their clan mates and face off against teams from other clans in epic sea battles. Reaching the Hurricane league will reward players with commemorative achievements — one for reaching the league, and one for winning the season!

Game Format

Among the major reasons to join or create a Clan is the ability to compete in Clan Battles.

Divisions and Matchmaking

When creating a Clan Division, the class restrictions are clearly displayed.
Divisions for Clan Battles must be formed under the following restrictions:
  • A Clan Division may be led by a Clan commander, executive officer, recruiter, or commissioned officer.
  • Depending on the season, ships of a single Tier (VI, VIII or X have been played) or multiple Tiers (thus far Tier VIII and IX, and X and Superships) are allowed, with limits on the number of higher tier ships can be used.
  • All players group up and enter the queue simultaneously
  • The majority of the players must be from the competing clan — most seasons allow a limited number of "mercenaries" (non-clan players)
  • Players may only queue for Clan Battles during specific hours on select days (that vary by season).
    • Clan officers can select which server's time slot they wish to play in, but a clan can only play in one time slot per day.
  • Clans can usually fight clans from their own server or other servers; on patch days, cross-server battles are not available.

Several divisions from the same Сlan may be in the queue for battle at the same time. The results of every battle will be applied to a Сlan's Rating in order after each of the ongoing battles finishes.

  • Clans can have up to two ratings ("Alpha" and "Bravo") which will be matched based on their current positioning/ranking
  • The highest Rating is shown as the Clan's overall rating.
  • Matchmaking will be based on your Clan's skill level, which is based on the League and Group your Clan occupies.
    • When possible, the matchmaker will attempt to match teams against others in a similar level.
  • In most cases, your Clan will not be matched with Clans you've just fought against.
  • A team cannot be matched with another team from the same Clan.

Maps

The Clan Battle configuration of "Mountain Range".
Each map appears in a domination configuration unique to Clan Battles. These configurations still present a team with the challenge of splitting up or staying together; aggressive maneuvers often pay more dividends than a defensive stance, hopefully leading to battles that are more dynamic and more variable game tactics. Additional maps have been added into the rotation to support a more dynamic play experience.

Rental Ships

In some seasons of clan battles, players without an appropriate tier ship that wish to participate in Clan Battles may have access to a limited pool of rental ships. If available then each group of available ships will include one destroyer, one cruiser, and one battleship. In some seasons the available rental ships have rotated periodically.

Rental ships operate under the following rules:

  • Players receive these ships temporarily, and the ships are removed when the season of Clan Battles ends.
  • They can only be used in Clan Battles.
  • Rental ships cannot mount camouflage.
  • Commanders may be re-assigned to rental ships without penalty, as with Premium ships.
  • Rental ships generate the same amount of credits, experience, Free XP, and Commander XP as ordinary (Tech Tree) ships.
  • When rental ships are removed their Commanders are automatically sent to the Reserve; any upgrades, consumables, and signals are moved to the Inventory; experience earned with a rented ship is transferred to the TI ship of the respective nation's tech tree.
  • If the ships have alternative modules — such as Shimakaze’s torpedoes — they can be mounted at no cost.

Personal Rewards

Unlike other battle modes, Clan Battles rewards every member of each team with the same rewards. For a win, teams receive better rewards than for all but an outstanding victory in Random Battles, while a defeat brings less rewards than an average Random Battle defeat. In general Clan Battles also award a Free Experience bonus modifier per battle.

Credit and experience rewards are fixed at 2,500 base experience and Credits 300,000 Credits for a win versus 250 base experience and Credits 150,000 Credits for a loss. As an example, in a Tier X Clan Battle with an average cost of ammunition at Credits 20,000 credits, players receive Credits 100,000 Credits for winning a battle, or lose Credits 50,000 Credits for losing a battle. With Premium account, players should receive around Credits 250,000 Credits for a victorious battle or Credits 30,000 Credits for a lost battle. All Economic Boosters will modify these results as normal.

All possible modifiers (Economic Boosters, Premium Account, ongoing campaign bonuses, etc.) are active in Clan Battles. The default servicing cost for all Tier X ships is Credits 180,000 Credits, but may change depending on the modifiers applied.

In addition to credit and experience rewards, Clan Battles will have mission chains associated with each season.

Clan Rewards

Clans which achieve ranks at or above Gale league 1 will receive coal or steel for their clan treasury following the end of the season. These clan rewards are outlined below:

Clans in the top 50 positions in the Global Rating will receive between 5,000 and 25,000 Steel. Note that each place after 5 brings 250 less steel, so the 10th place clan would receive 15,000 steel.

Leagues

Victory leads to progression through the various leagues.

Clans that participate in Clan Battles will vie for ranking on a tiered leader board that spans five leagues. The leagues are:

Logo League Name
Cvc_league_0.png Hurricane
Cvc_league_1_210.png Typhoon
Cvc_league_2_210.png Storm
Cvc_league_3_210.png Gale
Cvc_league_4_210.png Squall

Rating Points

Each League has three Groups, with each Group requiring 100 points to advance to the next. All points beyond that 100 roll over into the next Group/League. All Clans start in Squall League, Group II. A Clan gains or loses points in each Clan Battle depending on the outcome:

  • Victory: Average of +25 points.
  • Defeat: Average of -25 points.
  • Draw: 0 to -3 points.

The actual amount of points gained or lost depends on the relative rankings of both teams — a higher-ranked clan will gain fewer points from beating a lower ranked clan (who will also lose fewer points), but will gain more points from beating a higher ranked clan. Losing to a lower ranked clan will result in the loss of more points.

Progression Battles

Once they've climbed through every group in the League, a Clan must fight through a series of five Progression Battles (the "struggle") maybe? and win at least three of them. If a Clan manages to win three battles, they will advance to the next League with a 35-point bonus. However, if they lose three or more battles they will remain in the same league and lose 35 points. If a Clan doesn't fight the Progression Battles, they don't advance!

Alternatively, if a Clan loses enough points to fall to the bottom of their current League, they must win three out of five Relegation Battles to keep from getting kicked down to the league below with a 35-point penalty. However, they get a 35-point bonus if they succeed. Once a Clan hits zero points in Squall League, Group III, they've hit rock bottom and won't lose any additional points.

Other Special Rules

The active skills of Legendary Commanders cannot activate during Clan Battles, however their passive skills still work. For example, a Kléber with unique commander Philippe Auboyneau will not activate special talent Fire and Fury upon earning a Captured ribbon. However, if it has the Survivability Expert skill selected, it will receive the enhanced version of the skill.

If a battle lasts for less than four and a half minutes, players on both teams receive neither experience nor credits for that battle.

In Clan Battles, the same standard protection against AFK players is applied as in other battle modes. Players that fail to inflict damage to enemy ships and cover the minimum required travel distance will have their battle XP and credits reset to 0, though they will be charged for the ship servicing and ammunition costs.
