The AMX 50 B is a French tier 10 heavy tank.

El desarrollo comenzó en 1951 por la DEFA, la oficina de diseño de armamento del estado. En 1958, el AMX 50 B recibió un número de mejoras, incluyendo un casco fundido con perfil bajo y una suspensión de barras de torsión. También se montó en el vehículo una nueva torreta oscilante con cañón de 120 mm. A pesar de que la potencia del motor Maybach proporcionaba 1000 CV, los especialistas de la compañía alemana Gruppe M buscaron una solución que permitiera al vehículo alcanzar 65 km/h de velocidad punta.
