The StuG III Ausf. B is a German tier 4 tank destroyer.
En 1935, Erich von Manstein, del Estado Mayor del Ejército Alemán, en una carta al General Ludwig Beck, describió la idea de fabricar artillería de asalto para apoyar el ataque de las unidades de infantería. Se fabricaron cinco prototipos de la serie «cero» en 1937. Las primeras modificaciones desde el Ausf.A hasta el Ausf.F/8 fueron producidas hasta diciembre de 1942.
